The new Fanuc M2000 robot. The two servos on the side are at about eye level, and each is about ten inches square (the little black motors with red caps) The robot has about an 1800 lb capacity And it isn’t the biggest they make by far.

the rest of the Fanuc booth. yeah, I’m a fanuc geek. They do make the coolest stuff.
Wandering around the show I discovered the building next to the parking garage has a lovely rooftop garden.

I managed to find my way up to it, and wander around looking out at it in the rain. The doors were locked, of course, to prevent anyone from accidentally- you know- enjoying it.

Question:
Is “Fanuc” pronounced, Fan uk’, Fan nook’ or Fan’ uk?
Yep.
Good to see you at the show Og. The rooftop garden did not prevent the roof from leaking though. Came in Saturday morning to see garbage cans strategically placed throughout the booth to catch the dripping water. Ahhhhh, the results of government contracts, the best that money can buy.
LOL!
Back in ancient times, as a young an idealistic lad, I knew them as ‘GE Fanuc’ – when did GE sell them off?
GE could no more “sell off” Fanuc than a Lucky Dog Hot dog cart could “Sell Off” General Motors. GE, formerly EGE (for Edison General Electric) is a huge company, but FANUC (For Fujitsu Automatic Numerical Control) is headspinningly huge. And the GEFanuc connection still stands, they partner for the purpose of having cross-platform industrial control. GM Fanuc Robotics, on the other hand, died in the 90’s, because General Motors divested themselves of their share of the US market automation division.
