working on the stock inletting for the LeFever last night.I have a long way to go, of course, but it’s coming along. I’m using pieces of emery board glued to sticks and scalpel blades because I can’t even get to where I need to be with anything else.

Anyone who has never inletted a stock- I’ve done four or five bolts and when I finish with this, two shotguns- has no understanding of the difficulty involved in getting that perfect wood-to-metal fit. It’s on a par with the geeky kid who smells of clearasil getting into the prom queen’s pants. It can be done, but it’s not a good way to bet, most of the time, and it requires dogged determination.

I will NOT be checkering this. Damned if I put myself through THAT again.
