Tom Magliozzi dead at 77
Well, G-d rest his soul. Maybe we won’t have to listen to that insipid bullshit that passes for “Advice” anymore.
Oh, once upon a time, they actually did something useful once in a while, but in the main, they were a leftist pair of talentless shitbirds who spent more time pandering to their NPR audience than actually giving any useful advice. There used to be a little flowchart on their website that showed “Why you don’t really need an SUV”. Well, guys, I need an SUV because fuck you. You pompously whined that “You have no control over what people buy” with the understanding that you’d LIKE to have, front and center. Morons. Anyway, RIP, Tom, I will not spend a lot of time worrying about your useless show no longer being on the air.
I’m sorry to be the one to have to tell you, but “Car Talk” has been in reruns for at least a couple of years, the boys retired from new programming a while back.
So the show will probably continue on your local NPR station.
As far as his “you don’t need an SUV” schtick, remember that he lived in Boston. If you have ever had the pleasure of driving in Boston — especially the inner city — you’d understand why big cars (and on some streets practically any cars at all) are a PITA.
Just saying. I listened to “Car Talk” occasionally and chuckled a little and shook my head a lot. I will miss “Lucinda Boltz,” though.

Yeah, thankfully, i never listened to npr that much. Boston or wales or miami, i want to drive what i want without some simpering shitbag bitching about it.
I feel the same way about me 4runner.
Zombie CarTalk? You cannot kill the NPR un-dead?
I am adding “simpering shitbag” to my bag of derisiveness.
It pains me a bit to admit it, but I listen to NPR a bit on weekends. I like “Wait, Wait” & “Says You”.
I must agree about “Car Talk”. Years ago, I started to listen to it. I learned a bit on rare occasions, when it was a really odd problem, but usually I figured it out before they got to the answer (I’m a mechanic’s son), & their unrelenting leftist bullshit annoyed me.
I think what broke me was when they told a dude to get rid of his ’69 Camaro for a newer car: the Camaro was “unsafe” because it lacked airbags, handled poorly, etc. That, and any old car was bad because it contributed to Glowball Wormening or something.
RIP, Tommy, but I won’t miss you much.
