I wonder
if those morons protesting on wallstreet realize that without the industrial and financial establishments they’d all be living in mud huts eating bugs and fighting off big omnivores?
I for one welcome the world they desire. I would be one of the people who can actually- you know, do things. make alcohol for fuel to run vehicles, for instance, or forge weld something, or make propellants, or grow a garden, or preserve food, or defend myself from morons. I know a lot of people who are also adequately prepared in the same manner. We could sell them power for their ipods so they could still listen to the revolutionary jargon filled speeches from their barely postpubescent leaders.
morons.

I put it a bit more politely at my blog:
1. Do they think every big company should be run like Koch Industries?
2. Do they think that workers shouldn’t have the ability to buy or sell a part of the company they work for?
3. Do they think that no one should have a pension, IRA or 401(K)?
My guess: These protesters have never needed to work for their money in such a way that their survival depended on it. They’ve always had a safety net of some kind, and they’ve always had their wants and needs attended to. They’ve lived high on Maslow’s pyramid without stopping to consider the levels beneath them. And now that those lower levels are becoming harder to ignore, they’re throwing a screaming tantrum because life isn’t supposed to be like this!
In other words, they’re mad at Daddy because he won’t give them and their friends money and the car keys so they can go to the mall. Why should the old man keep all the money? He doesn’t know what to do with it, not like they do. They could change the world, man.
Infants.
And yeah, I’d be totally down with the kind of world Og’s describing. Put in a good day’s work, get a solid night’s sleep, build your house with your own hands and your neighbors’ help, that sort of thing.
Joanna: being a survivor, as you know, doesn’t mean having the biggest cache of ammunition or MRE’s, but keeping your head down, and saving, and being prepared. You are the type that will be the mother of the future- strong, capable, and frugal.
Aw shucks.
On the other hand, I know some people who support them (not actual protestors themselves), who have actually worked for a living, at least a little.
There’s a lot of sheer blindness about what “banks” do, and years of anti-“corporate” propaganda and blithering … throw in a little class-warfare populism, and you get people who really ought to know better espousing the ridiculous.
“people who really ought to know better espousing the ridiculous. ”
LOL! Very nicely put, Sigi. When I read that I thought “Like Anarchists!!”
Sig: I class those as “fellow travelers”, the ones who say “I would/could never get away with it, but boy it sure would be nice if those [fill-in-the-villian] would just [verb] already.” They have day jobs and responsibilities, but they also have a nagging resentment that things aren’t fair and somebody owes them. Applies to protesters, terrorist groups and a good chunk of the baby boomers.
“…eating bugs and fighting off big omnivores?…” LOL! When I first saw this phrase, my eyes skipped over “and fighting” and I saw, “eating bugs off big carnivores…”
But, I just want to add that I am also one of those old-fashioned adepts who remembers the days of laundry boilers on a wood stove and homemade soap. Digging a latrine, making sauerkraut, and butchering fish is also on my resume.
You know the old saying, “You never miss the water till the well runs dry.” I’ll bet they will be missing it a long time before that.
Those stupid protesters.
I play guitar for a couple of well known rock bands. Those idiots think we, the band members, are socialists, too. Just the opposite, we are working hard, and saving like mad. We live the free market, and while successful, you never know, you know.
We love the free market; it’s the way the world actually works.
Twang: Hope you hit it big. When you do, come back and link to your youtube videos.
They should fear the very day they say they hope for.
Comes the “revolution”, the restraints are off those defending their businesses, factories, homes.
They will die in their millions, because what they don’t realize is that most of us have already BEEN through these puerile stages, and most of us long ago moved on and DID something with our lives, and most of us SWORE that such rabble would never live that try to tear down the civilization we built. We’ve thought their crazy thoughts and rejected them, and already have defeated those thoughts.
Their worse crime? Basing all their beliefs on the State, while at the same time denying the State’s authority to regulate them, keep them safe from harm.
They have pre-committed suicide, like lemmings. It only remains to start the stampede towards the cliff.
Anarchists don’t realize what they’re asking for. They THINK that the current system is like a schoolyard where the biggest kid runs the show and can take your lunch money as he pleases.
They don’t realize that REAL anarchy is exactly that, and that it’s extremely likely that they won’t be the ones making the rules should it come. They’ll be the ones who are tearfully handing over their lunch money while dabbing futilely at a busted lip.
They think they want anarchy; what they actually want is a communist revolution…and they don’t know it.
What they do not realize is that if we have a true anarchy, there will be no teacher to tell them how smart they really are or policeman to help them when the bad men show up.
For Myself, I say fuck em. Let THEM learn the hard way like we all did.
Personally, I would like to see a few sabre tooths roaming the plains. That should cut down the herd some.
Several bloggers I follow have expressed strong views on the subject. This article from the Oathkeepers site caught my attention, and I’m asking you and your readers for insight. I’m posting this comment on a few different blogs, so you might see it elsewhere. Thanks!

After the fall, grooming and eating the nits out of my back hair will be the equivalent of dining at Spago’s
I’m staking out that niche market early….
@Ed Hering, What you described, seeming without even realizing it, is the american political system.
Bully’s stealing, and making rules for others to follow, or else.
I have no problem with street thugs for they are honest.
Political thugs lie to you first then steal your stuff, then cage or kill you.
Bring on the anarchy – it’s the way most people live their lives everyday.
“Bring on the anarchy – it’s the way most people live their lives everyday. ”
Not even. Most people live their lives wishing for the freedom of Anarchy, knowing if they fuckup too badly they can use the rule of law to weasel out of their bad judgement.
Don: You don’t want anarchy, you want freedom from having to eat your greens and go to bed when Mom says bedtime. Grow up.
I’m a cockgobbler who comes here occasionally to lick the shitstains off Og’s dog’s asshole. Even the worst morons at Tar Sands have more common sense than me, and I’m stupid enough to think Og doesn’t know how to track me down.
Ed: I have to act as Freddie’s balls since he’s got none himself, so i put his name on the post since he’s too cowardly to do so.
Jim, jim, jim. You just can’t stand that you could be outwitted by a can of soup on it’s worst day.
Did you forget that you once emailed me your home address? Are you that ignorant?
I get up your way once in a while. Maybe I’ll pay you a visit.
