No rules applied to him other than the ones he made himself. My father&#8217;s name was Marion, and the two were much alike in a lit of ways- when I think of Dad, I think of John Wayne in &#8220;Quiet Man&#8221; and Gary Cooper in &#8220;Pride of the Yankees&#8221;. He combined a lot of the qualities of both roles.<\/p>\n<p>In his own words:<br \/>\n&#8220;I would like to be remembered, well&#8230;the Mexicans have a phrase, &#8216;Feo, fuerte y formal&#8217;. Which means; he was ugly, strong and had dignity.&#8221; (Time Magazine interview, 1969)<\/p>\n<p>God keep you, Duke. Thank you for the entertainment. Thanks for showing us what real men can be like, at their best.
