{"id":157,"date":"2004-10-10T16:49:50","date_gmt":"2004-10-10T21:49:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/69.50.194.231\/~vqplgdbg\/?p=157"},"modified":"2004-10-10T16:49:50","modified_gmt":"2004-10-10T21:49:50","slug":"first-rifle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/neanderpundit.com\/?p=157","title":{"rendered":"First rifle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today, I bought the daughter her <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crickett.com\/Pictures\/Options\/big_pictures\/rwb\/rwb.jpg\">first rifle<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She&#8217;s been shooting my partner&#8217;s old Stevens Crackshot, but it&#8217;s too old and too nice a rifle for her to quite appreciate, and frankly, it&#8217;s a bit finicky.<\/p>\n<p>The folks at Kim&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kimGun Guy.com\/dr\/forum\/index.php\">Nation of Rifleman forum<\/a> were kind enough to reccomend this, and the kicker was this: Took the daughter to a gun show and she saw this, fell in love. So I ordered it from my local place, all of $148, and I hope to surprise her with it come thanksgiving.<\/p>\n<p>I was all prepared to spend more and buy a clipfed rifle, but then I though, hell, she&#8217;ll just want something else to grow into. So hurt me hurt me; I&#8217;ll have to buy her another rifle someday. Boo Hoo. <\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m so tickled I could giggle. <\/p>\n<p>My good friend Jenny says of my training the daughter to shoot: &#8220;She&#8217;ll grow up self assured and not dependent on anyone else for anything&#8221;.
