{"id":4004,"date":"2010-11-23T09:59:23","date_gmt":"2010-11-23T14:59:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/neanderpundit.com\/?p=4004"},"modified":"2010-11-23T10:29:46","modified_gmt":"2010-11-23T15:29:46","slug":"o-freunde-nicht-diese-tone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/neanderpundit.com\/?p=4004","title":{"rendered":"O Freunde, nicht diese T\u00c3\u00b6ne!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a couple spots over the last couple days, and yesterday in conversation, I&#8217;ve been prompted to think of favorite classical pieces; Tam thinks the Messiah (or the Ninth) is the piece we should play to impress aliens, some of my friends are particular fans of Wagner, I especially like Ode to Joy portion of the  ninth- which should be obvious by the title of the post. <\/p>\n<p>So yootoobing around last night, I stumbled on this:<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"480\" height=\"385\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/XKRj-T4l-e8?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/XKRj-T4l-e8?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"480\" height=\"385\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>I mean, I like the piece a lot, naturally, (other than the much overdone toccatta, which has been pimped so much it has become annoying to me) but the Fugue, which begins at around 3:10, is the part that makes me tune out everything else, so much so that it&#8217;s moderately dangerous for me to drive while listening to it.<br \/>\nThis version, which I&#8217;ve never heard before, can only accurately be described as haunting. <\/p>\n<p>As an aside: I sing the Ode to Joy everytime I take a dead machine and bring it back to life.
