One has but to read the news to stand beside me in wishing for the demise of the species. There are certainly moments when we deserve it, and as often as not, we deserve worse.<\/p>\n
Like being a kid. I often ended my day with a good solid stropping, having succumbed to the temptation of one mischief or another, and it was an odds on favorite that I got beaten less often than I deserved, and probably much<\/em> less often.<\/p>\n So like the Flood, I look around me and think, why does God not send a pestilence to wipe us from the planet? a scourge we certainly have done plenty to deserve, from the way we have used and abused His creation, to the way we use and abuse one another, to the way we have cheapened life in all it’s forms. A truly just God would sweep his mighty arm through and sanitize the planet, and leave it for creatures more suited. <\/p>\n Instead, we prey upon one another. We are mean to one another. We stand in the light that makes rainbows, and we soak up the dew that would water the flowers. We don’t even do those things for our own benefit, only so that they do not benefit others. <\/p>\n I see this kind of behavior from people around me, people in the media, people supposedly charged with the governance of the species. I see it and I am filled with despair, and loathing for the whole race. <\/p>\n
