I don’t want for much, but I get what I need when I need it. So I’m difficult to purchase anything for, and those around me despir of ever purchasing anything of value to me- whcih is fine, I don’t need people doing for me anyway. <\/p>\n

But sometimes someone will do something and get it so right, that I am astonished, and I am so rarely surprised by anything it is a rare treat. <\/p>\n

So it was with some excitement that I cut the strapping tape on the box, and tunneled through the packing tape to find this:

What is it? What could it be? A heavyish case covered in velvet? why, it could be anything, even a deed to a bowling alley!

Now, I loves me some bacon, and this is some of the best commercial stuff. And yes, I have had Amish bacon, and Mennonite bacon, and also Black Forest bacon. The Black Forest bacon is bad enough that I have eaten great slabs of it dead raw, not because I like it better that way but because I cannot WAIT to have it in my mouth. <\/p>\n

But I am NOT a bacon snob. I occasionally find bacon on sale for as little as a buck a package, when it’s about to arrive at it’s expiry date at the store, I will eat generic bacon, I will eat any bacon that shows up at my door or- well, if it’s bacon, and I can reach it, I will eat it. The bacon snobbery I see is always odd; as if any bacon were bad! that would be, to me, like saying “I can have sex with any women I want, but I will ONLY have sex with the stunningly attractive ones. From my personal standpoint, it’s just silly. Sure, I’m not going to eat spoiled or bad bacon, but as long as it’s been cured properly and stored properly, I’m in. Thick, thin, in sandwiches or on a plate, if it’s bacon, that’s for me.<\/p>\n

So Oscar meyer, one of the gold standards for commercial bacon? I will enjoy this as if it were sent directly from Tiffany’s to me. I will open this package with the reverence I would reserve had it been sent me by Holly Golightly (Which, in it’s way, it sort of was) and I will grin as I crunch each and every piece.
