But it requires a lot of rope and chain and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=XS-gwb8eSc0\">blood sweat and tears.<br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I kept pulling knots too tight to loosen so I put in an eye, and thought this would be a good time to demonstrate how that&#8217;s done.<\/p>\n<p>First you need a hardwood block and a damned sharp knife. Cut the end of the rope off square and sieze the ends of the three strands- I used electrical tape but you can use thread or string or heat shrink or anything you want. With poly rope you can also just melt the end. <\/p>\n<p>The knife I use was given to me by Jim of <a href=\"http:\/\/smokeonthewater.typepad.com\/smokeonthewater\/\">Sunk New Dawn<\/a>. I don&#8217;t use it for anything else, and I keep it razor sharp.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"20140706_134033.jpg\" class=\"imagelink\" id=\"p6485\" href=\"https:\/\/neanderpundit.com\/?attachment_id=6485\" rel=\"attachment\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image6485\" alt=\"20140706_134033.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/neanderpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/20140706_134033.jpg\" \/height=200><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Next, unlay the rope about six full turns<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"20140706_134048.jpg\" class=\"imagelink\" href=\"https:\/\/neanderpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/20140706_134048.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image6486\" alt=\"20140706_134048.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/neanderpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/20140706_134048.jpg\" \/height=200><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fold the rope over until it gives you an eye the size you want. You go in the opposite direction of the rope twist, over the adjacent strand and under the next, doing one strand at a time This is the first run tucked through<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"20140706_134316.jpg\" class=\"imagelink\" href=\"https:\/\/neanderpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/20140706_134316.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image6491\" alt=\"20140706_134316.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/neanderpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/20140706_134316.jpg\" \/height=200><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And this is the completed piece.
