For some time now, the Og household has consisted of the Ogwife, the Oglet, the Fucktard<\/strike> Cat and myself. Since the cat has been de-nutted, Chez Og is basically Estrogenland. <\/p>\n
All that is about to change.

\nTHe Ogwife and I have been considering a new dog for a while. Since Patches had to be put down, we didn’t want to jump in, but we felt it important for the Oglet. So with spring coming on, we talked a bit about new pups, and decided on getting a beagle. <\/p>\n
Now, I loves me some beagles. Ever hunted rabbit? Ever hunt over a good beagle? A beagle makes a sound when it’s on a rabbit, maybe is the finest sound on earth- it’s the sound of an animal in abject ecstacy. To be a beagle, to be on that rabbit, is just incredible, just awesome. The beagle loves life at that moment more than just about anything.<\/p>\n
Now, beagle pups can be a trial. THey tend to be rambunctious and eat everything they can reach- but that should be mitigated somewhat by the fact that we’ll be around a lot of the time. And the daughter should wear the little guy out. <\/p>\n
Yep, it’s a male. I found a local breeder, who came well reccomended, and we went to see him sunday. We discovered he’d lost most of a litter because of bad heaters in the whelping box. One pup was left, a little male. he reached into the box and pulled it out, handed it to me. It snuggled into the crook of my arm and peed on me, and the wife rubbed it, enjoying the softness and color of it’s fur. The mama peered out of the whelping box anxiously, none to excited about the prospect of losing her remaining pup. <\/p>\n
I rolled the dog up on it’s back, and it was perfectly happy to be there, clutching at my palm with all four paws, tip of it’s tail wiggling nervously, and peeing on me again. It had all the marks of a good housedog, mama and papa healthy and friendly, mama sniffed every inch when i put him back in the whelping box. <\/p>\n
I kinda wanted a bitch, and the breeder said he’d have another litter coming up soon, but soon was months off. <\/p>\n
We drove halfway home and the Ogwife said “we should have given him a deposit”. I asked if she was serious, and she was, she’d fallen in love. So I went home to do some work and she drove back to drop off a check. We haven’t told the oglet, we’ll be picking the pup up when it’s weaned and able to be separated from mom. Good friday, looks like. So an easter surprise for the Oglet. Don’t know if we’ll try to fit it in an egg or just in a basket. <\/p>\n
