peened over
I’ve been so damned busy in the last two weeks it’s amazing I accomplish anything at all. And the feeling is one of being peened over. What’s that, you say? Well, it’s this:
See where the rivet is flat on top, and flush or below the surface of the material? it’s been peened down so it’s flush, wiht a special type of hammer and set.
So to the un-mechanical, when I say peened down, this is what I mean. Hammered flat. Like Freddie king sang- “I’m tore down, almost level with the ground”. Only I’m not “tore down”, I’m “Hammered down”

Man, me too. I woke up at 7, got a coffee, picked up a book (Death Eaters, by Crichton) and promptly fell asleep until 10ish. Then I had breakfast, watched a little TV in bed, played on the computer, played with friends, went to dinner. I’m peened over, too. Summer vacation is soooo hard for me.
Don’t make us come get you, Holder. Ask Zonker how traumatic is a visit from the Great and Powerful Og.

I always thought peening (using the pic as reference) was what happened to the BOTTOM of the rivet? Where it’s upset and swells, and can’t come back out through the hole? The top (I thought) was made to fit that way, with a post-looking piece to go through the hole, which is then peened to lock it in place? Or am I mistaken about how rivets work?
In the picture above, you may be correct. IN a lot of steel construction, the head is on the back and the front is peened flat.
let’s see…. nipple licking and huge muscles. That’ll scare me.
