New jobs! Cheap oil! Sorry. Pixiedust says no.
According to the folks at American Solutions, who busted their ass to get their hands on a survey that shows Americans favor drilling by more than 2 to i
This would make gas cheaper, reduce our energy dependance, and create millions of jobs, generating billions of dollars of tax revenue.

Like Robert Reich said, they have to be the right kind of jobs that hire the right kind of people. You’re talking about true jobs that allow Americans to make the country less energy dependent.
No helpless drones in the picture. No wonder it has no support.
I wonder if the oil fields need line cooks? (she wondered, looking around at her cubicle … )
I dial 1-800-obvious and received a similar prerecorded message.
Not to mention that every additional barrel of oil we produce here in the US is $70 to $75 off the US international trade deficit.
That is assuming we actually, you know, export it. Personally I think the world owes us a billion barrels or so, as to reason, we can start with putting up with them.
Think about it, where would we be know if not for the United States? We have bailed europe out of two world wars, rehabilitated Japan, brought China into to world, enriched thousands of arabs who would still be humping, never mind that one as they still are. We have pumped billions into Africa and South America, not that you could tell.
Bah, fuck em.
But, drill baby drill….my blazer is thirsty and corn doesn’t get as far.
Just another reason to strangle the nearest green weenie available.
I think what Wasp means is it’s 73 bucks we don’t have to spend outside. But yeah, what a bunch of shit. Commission a study, and then bury it because it doesn’t say what you want it to say.
Yes, what I meant was every barrel of oil we don’t import because we produce it here is a barrel we don’t have to import. That doesn’t count the secondary effects. If made it clear that we were actually willing to drill for oil in US waters, and the commodities market would believe it, I think the price of oil would drop a few dollars a barrel.

My friend once commented that she had a vegetarian sandwich for lunch. I asked her if it was a free-range or factory-farmed vegetarian.
She didn’t get it.
We need to frame the debate correctly. The second largest seller of oil to the US is Mexico. Suggesting that we should not drill here is suggesting that we should instead import it from places like Mexico. So by refusing to allow drilling in the US, we are in fact shipping US jobs to Mexico.
