Just being prepared.
Looks like the end run is being done to get the healthcare bill jammed through.
Might want to pick up some of this. We’ll need a lot. Also this would be handy to have. iI you weren’t a boy scout.

Sheet bend on one end and hangman’s noose on the other. Not a problem.
Damn it, not a sheet bend. I should hold off commenting till completely caffeinated. Which knot am I thinking of? Timber hitch? Yeah, timber hitch.
They’re liberals. Any knot will do.
And yep, it’s about time that we get off our asses.
Not to be a party pooper
and Lord knows I’m as pissed about this as anyone (probably more so)
but you do realize you’re talking about killing people who haven’t raised a weapon against you first. I know it’s hyperbole, but I’ve seen it a lot lately and it’s getting less and less funny.
There are other lines that have to be crossed before that particular spot in the sand becomes an issue.
I’m talking about buying rope and books. I don’t know what you’re talking about.
As far as killing people who have not raised a hand against me, well, that’s an interesting point. I consider “theft of the livlihood of my children” to be raising a hand against me. I consider “ignoring the rule of law” to be raising a hand against me. And there are a LOT of other hands that have been raised against me; but even if it were not the case, I have absolutely zero trouble with eliminating someone who has demonstrated themselves to be evil and dangerous. NOT doing so is what allowed Hitler, Stalin, Mao, et al to rise to power- and then kill millions with their agenda.
The line in the sand has been crossed, years ago.
Joanna,
I’m a firm believer in our Constitution and wouldn’t even consider breaking a single law.
In fact, I’m praying that somebody somewhere will see the light and this nonsense will come to an end.
On the other hand, unlike most of my fellow sheeple, I will not stand idly by as my country is methodically and purposefully taken down the path to communism, and ultimately, destruction. I can’t.
You see, I swore an sacred oath a long time ago that did not contain any sort of time limit or provisions for my physical health.
And you’re absolutely, 100% correct. It’s not funny.
A tip for your readers: the Sea Scout Manual (if you can find it — it’s out of print) has a great deal more on knots than the Boy Scout manual.
Although I don’t recall its teaching the Hangman’s Noose.
M
Joanna;
The law permits — in some circumstances REQUIRES — the use of lethal force in the prevention of a felony-in-progress.
Given that the authority of the law which sanctions felonies arises from the Constitution, what level of force is permissible — or even required — in the prevention of the evisceration of the Constitution?
There’s a reason treason is a capital crime.
M
I guess my point is that all the talk about ropes and lampposts seems to be jumping the gun. Our own revolution took years to go from “You’re starting to piss me off” to the shot heard ’round the world.
Plus it’s damn disturbing.
The world moves a little faster nowdays. We are already nearly slaves. How long should we wait?
Mark, here ya go.
http://tiny.cc/NKAC3
At the risk of a visit from the cliche police, I’m only as much of a slave as I choose to be. St. Paul was beset from every side, but he didn’t try to overthrow the Romans or the Sanhedrin. He also didn’t get all butthurt when they threw him in prison.
In other words, I’m already a slave to Christ — no one else has any claim on me. And it’s not up to me to enforce that. So, yeah, my chances of going to jail some time in the next 10 years are going up by the day. That’s what happens when you take a stand. If you’re going to frame things in terms of good and evil, you have to remember that evil, like darkness, is a void. You can’t remove a void. You have to fill it with something better. I’m not saying “no” to evil, I’m saying “yes” to good. The apostles didn’t lose the battle just because they paid their taxes.
Dick;
[chuckle] I knew that. Used to tie them into the shade cords in school. NASTY boys!
Joanna;
Freedom is perishable. When it’s under assault is the ONLY time you get to defend it. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. Thus the 2A and RKBA.
M
Personally I’m going to exercise my First Amendment rights and support candidates this November who run against those who support this mess.
Joanna, this revolution has been in the making since 1933.
Or since 1913, if you want to go back the ratification of the 16th Amendment, something for which every Congresscritter and state legislator who voted for it should have been hanged on the spot.
Dick, I agree with you 100%. Took that same oath a number of times, and didn’t notice any “expiration date” on being beholding to, and honoring said oath.
Joanna, Yes it IS disturbing, to any individual with half a brain and a functioning conscience, it SHOULD be. Having said that, it still doesn’t change the fact that we as citizens are honor bound to uphold our end of this nations charter. “We the People” are the “fourth leg of the governmental stool (Referring to the item one sits on, not fecal matter … though that might be a better description for the other three legs.), if we fail in our duties as citizens to keep our reigned in within the limits as set forth in the Constitution, than we have no other choice but to exercise our RIGHT to hit the reset button. We don’t have to like it, or want to do it, or look forward to same, but as adults, do it we must.
And remember the founding fathers only faced a tax increase of roughly one cent. Look what THAT caused. (Yeah, I know it wasn’t the tax in and of itself, but the lack of formal representation, which tripped their trigger, but you get the idea.) Compare that to what is being experienced now. We are well past the tipping point.
Joanna: evil must be actively fought. If you draw a line in the sand, and wait for it to be crossed, it is by definition too late to have any effect. And you can fill the void- or at least make it smaller- by stopping the agents of evil.
Joanna,
These are your fellow citizens that are speaking, and I promise that we’re some of the biggest sweethearts you’d ever meet.
We aren’t politically inclined, nor are we wishing for any sort of power for ourselves. We simply want to be left alone with our freedom to live out our lives, with our wallets somewhat intact.
Somebody has now threatened that freedom and our wallets.
And you can fill the void- or at least make it smaller- by stopping the agents of evil.
That’s like saying you can keep out the dark by hanging curtains. You’re still operating on their terms.
The way I see it, there are three options: 1) say yes to evil (surrender); 2) say no to evil (defense); 3) say yes to good, regardless of what evil says or does (offense). “Kill the traitorous bastards” is part and parcel with option two. It’s just more destruction. And I sure as hell don’t want to be on the side that starts the shooting.
The “say yes to good” option is directly responsible for the holocaust and a million other obscenities.
Hey whoa there.
I didn’t say I wouldn’t shoot.
Just that I don’t want to start it.
Preemptively taking out people thought to be evil was responsible for those things, too.
How? Name one example.
That’s like saying you can keep out the dark by hanging curtains
That is true if you can convince yourself that evil, like darkness, is merely the absence of something. Since that analogy holds no water neither does the comparison you made.
Um … Hitler’s entire campaign against the Jews? Pol Pot? Stalin’s purges? The Reign of Terror? They didn’t think “Those guys are fine, but I’m going to take them out because I’m evil.” They thought “Those guys are evil. Obviously the right thing to do is to take them out, because I am not evil.”
Note that I’m not saying good and evil are subjective. They’re not. But vigilante behavior relies on the logic that taking out evil by violence is automatically good. Call it the vengeance fallacy; we simply do not have the right to take these matters into our own hands until ALL other avenues have been exhausted.
I’m still waiting.in each case you mention the oppressed people were demonstrably not evil

Joanna -
“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say goodbye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling in terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand. The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst; the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!”
–Alexander Solzhenitsyn
“If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”

What Joanna is saying is that from, say, Hitler’s point of view, the Holocaust was eminently justifiable because he thought all Jews were evil.
The problem with that is that the rest of the world let him think it, and then let him act on that thought, instead of putting him down like the mentally-diseased animal he was.
They weren’t. The people oppressing them thought they were. Perhaps the Palestinian intifada would have been a better example. The point is that no one — in or out of power — has the right to say “Person X has evil intent, so they must die before they can act on/enforce it.” It’s not even justifiable homicide. It’s murder. And it really, really bothers me to hear my friends talk like that. I’m no pacifist — not by a long shot — but I know better than to be the one who starts the fight.
Sofa — see my comment about starting the fight. Bring a fight to me, you can be damn sure I’ll finish it — or at worst go down swinging — but I will wait for you to throw the first punch.
Lettng the schoolyard bully carry on, unless he punches you, is a tacit endorsement of the bully’s actions.
It’s when the rest of the class stands against the bully, that the shit begins to stop.
Same for world affairs, writ large.

But as I said, the jews were demonstrably not evil.
Look, this whole thing started because I think comments like “Rope. Lamppost. Congressman. Some assembly required” are in poor taste and should be avoided. That kind of talk puts one in the same category as those Bush assassination fetishists from a couple years ago.
Put frankly, there are other ways to fight than fighting. We. Are not. There. Yet.
Joanna: we have been “there” for a very long time.
1933 attempted socialist takeove thwarted by WW II.
1963 Next attempted take over. Creation of MediaCare to “address” people on Social Security having the ability to once again have insurance to pay for health care. Also started the civil right movement - agrueably a good thing.
2008 Elected the most liberal person in the USA to POTUS. Who is on records as stating he is finally proud of the US. On record as being against the constitution as written. On record as saying we do not have the smarts to know what is best for use and is actively attempting to rewrite the tax laws to force support for the health care insurnace initiative.
The greatest regret of my life is that for a short time in 1973 I believed the drivel the democrats where spouting. I was young and a true follower of christ and it seemed like a good idea. I knew I was the smartest one in the room, just ask me.
I am constantly torn yet today about Christ’s teachings. I think the main lesson in his life was the love God had for his creation.
I aslo think the USA is a great shining light on the hill where everyone who wants to better themselves would like to live. it is also a big target for those following the dark one.
While there are a few good eggs in washington, there are not enough to save it. We need to see the sodom and gommarh effect again.
Failing that, the works of Kim, Lamp Post, Rope, Some assembly required.
FWIW A hang mans know has exactly 13 loops in the knot. No more, no less. I can tie it in less than a minute.
I to would not like to fire the first shot. However I don’t thinnk that is true now.
It is not enough to wait for them to come to your door as your line in the sand.
For then they only have to visit one door at a time.
If your line does not include the doors of others, you have rejected the very idea of defending someone, some idea or some door other than your own. Such a position is a very lonely place to be.
it’s been hard to have this discussion via cellphone; now that I’m at my desk again, let me reiterate:
This post is about preparedness. Rope is a good survival tool. Knowing how to tie rope (the other link goes to the Ashley Book of Knots, an excellent resource) doubles the utility of rope.
Aside from that, there is a line in the sand that must be drawn. And that line must be drawn- not at your door, but at the door of your opponent. The line has been crossed long ago. The rule of law is meaningless to the ruling “elite”. They are no longer even operating under the pretense of doing the will of the people.
We are “There”. We have never been more “There”. Now all that remains is to decide what to do next. I have my own ideas, they do not involve firearms or rope, and I intend keeping those ideas to myself.
I was thinking; if one starts with a piece of rope 100′ long and ties a bowline knot every two feet; and if each knot uses two feet of rope, then you can run a wholesale hanging operation and clear out the worst of the DC problem with only 23 rotations.
(551(EJL)/25)
Of course this doesn’t do anything to fix the problem of the bureaucracy, but maybe if they were forced to watch?
We’ve been “There” for quite a while. Why does my town of 20,000 need a “Swat Team” trained in urban warfare, dressed all in black, with face masks and no Police Badges showing and armed with machine guns? This is not a Police force. This is an Occupation Army.
I’ve had this discussion with members of my city government, some are “disturbed” by the militarization of the police, some are “disturbed” by me. I much prefer the ones disturbed by the Militarization of our Police Force.
Now we have a one party Congress totally ignoring the Constitution. How long before it tries to enforce its new laws by force of arms? Will it be time to act then? Remember WACO, Ruby Ridge. Elian Gonzalez? All done by Progressives. Will the FBI, ATF, ICE, and other armed agencies obey their superiors or their oaths of service?
Why does the Dept. of Education, fer chrissake, need sawed off automatic shotguns?
Rope, Lamppost, Legislator, some assembly required.
Gerry N.
Hangman’s noose not required. A hondo will do every bit as well.

I have a lot of Joanna’s reserve in me for now. Mainly since we’ve plenty of non-violent means yet to be tried. But they all require cooperation. The spirit of the Tea Parties has been all well and good for the past year, but it’s been .01% of what it could inflate to be. So far, it’s all been polite and local. There’s not been a national strike by every Tom, Dick, and Harry. There’s not been a 5 or 10 million man and woman march. There’s not been trucks pulled into the toll booths at X Hour, turned off, and the driver hopping into the wife’s waiting car on the other side to book away, leaving the roads hammer locked. We’ll need to see a Baltic Way, a Prague Spring, a storming of the Stasi HQ, a total national sit-in for non-violent change before I’d say we’re to breaking the emergency glass.
Real, shootin’ civil war has ruined many a good nation for generations, while bettering none.
Joanna,
If you fight smart and well there should only be one punch in a fight. I for one will not Hope to survive the first blow to begin to defend myself. To do so is bravado or simply stupid.
In order to live by the rule of law, as we are asking Pelosi, et.al. to do where are the law suits?
Why is there no brave law firm taking these issues to a federal court?
Why isn’t these issues in front of the SCOTOS?
I asked these questions of my local DA and he said “Good question, I guess no one has the balls”.
Anyone out there?
Skip, if it passes, the lawsuits will be non-stop.
They really can’t take it to court until then because there’s nothing to base it on. And yep, mountains of conservative attorneys are licking their chops.
The French used to (might still for all I know) execute those convicted of capital crimes under the rubric of “an example for the others.”
Faced with a mob of criminal legislators, who view the law — especially the Constitution — as an obstacle on the field of play, rather than — as it should be viewed — the field of play embodied in itself, what option is there?
They won’t be restrained by the law. Their relentless march toward the progressive utopia over the past century and a half has clearly demonstrated that.
They won’t be given check from public opinion. Their derision and late attempts to co-opt the TEA Party movement illustrates that with pellucid clarity.
They won’t even accept the rebellion in their own ranks or the convention wisdom that they’re committing political suicide.
Menatime, in the course of one generation, we have seen the government affirmatively destroy the family life of at least one-eighth of the population through insidious — scorn quotes — “welfare” policies. We have seen a small-time cottage industry turned into a multi-national plague by the statist “war on drugs”. That same war has unleashed literal, actual, real-life jack-booted thugs (OK, combat-booted — happy?), knocking down the doors of peaceful citizens in the dark of night, shooting their dogs, and treating them as though they were mensheviks bound for the gulag. We have the risible spectre of property being summarily judged in kangaroo courts as being guilty of crimes and subject to forfeit, without regard to the guilt or innocence (or even involvement) of the property’s actual owner. We are greeted almost daily with tales of citizens accosted and relieved of “suspect” sums of cash by — quelle outrage! — OFFICERS OF THE LAW!
And yet, when citizens exercise their god-given and constitutionally-protected right to petition the government for redress of grievances, to impeach public officials for these crimes both high and misdemeanant, they are denied standing to sue by corrupt judges.
And the list goes ON! The outrages committed under color of law are without end! WHAT THE FUCK ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO? LIE BACK AND THINK OF ENGLAND?
Hang a few, starting with Pelosi and Reid, as an example for the others, and perhaps the message might start to penetrate their thick skulls.
M
“WHAT THE FUCK ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO? LIE BACK AND THINK OF ENGLAND?”
Maybe. If one is well informed about events across the pond, this could actually be a good start. Sane Englanders are not happy with their government either, and for many of the same reasons. But, it shouldn’t take this sort of remedial education for people to be angry.
We’ve sat back and watched the changes for far too long already. We, as a whole, have permitted government forces to interfere in most aspects our private lives, to pollute and warp our schools (and our children by extension), to punish by regulation private business… the list is disgustingly long. What freedom have we left?
This “example for others” business sounds about right to me.
No, Deb. And I’m sorry for the lack of clarity. “Lie back and think of England” is the WWII version of “When rape is inevitable, lie back and enjoy it.” Not tied to modern England at all.
M
Maybe it’s time to start throwing bricks through certain office windows?
I’m ready for riots and mass lockdowns, which should be very interesting.
This is a very powerful thread stream. Good understated provocation Og.
Here’s a quote from another item that almost fits how Joanna sees it. There were a great many then as there are now who could not believe there REALLY are people who lust for that kind of power.
There are people who think we’re so far past “there” that the situation is hopeless. We WILL get Obamacare, and it WILL be the final nail in the coffin of the republic, and it WILL be the lowering of the Darkness over the West.
M
Speaking of being prepared… what do the other hoosiers here think of them passing house bill 1065 (Goes into effect July 1)
