This is how security should be done.
How about following the Ben Gurion model.
Israelis do what they need to do. And the only people they hassle are the ones who are out to do something stupid.

Theirs is a great system, it works nearly flawlessly, it requires minimal political/bureaucratic supervision or input. Exactly why it won’t fly in the US, no pun intended.
I still want to know why, if there is a real threat that these new TSA procedures will overcome, are we not using the “enhanced pat down” at all of the airports where there are no new scanners.
But, as both you and I have pointed out, we could use the Israeli method and get more done for less. And that just won’t grow the ranks of government workers like it should…..
It’s a lot “fairer” to look for nail clippers than it is to look for terrorists…
Indeed.
I just read a Byron York article where he asserts that the TSA law of 2001 states that airports can opt out of TSA in favor of private screeners after 2 years. That’s 7 yrs ago.
But, as others have said elsewhere, there are as many,or more, internal flights within the USA as there are international flights into Israel. What can work for a small country may not work for a much larger one.
No question. But why not try that before just jumping directly to tit-grabbing?
