One of my customers
has an IT guy who really knows his shit.
He’s been instrumental in making sure that all the equipment works together, helping us to integrate our “new” machines to his older machines, and helping us make machine mods he needed to integrate the finished cells to the company’s enterprise system. He’s been around for ages, and rather than becoming a worthless old retainer like many of his vintage, he continues to do more and learn more and be more valuable. He’s retired several times already, and they keep bringing him back. He does exactly what he wants and nobody questions because he always does his job, and the jobs of several others besides. He has a couple of children, and is as protective of them as any father, and his values are Christian and deeply moral.
When O got elected, I sort of wondered how he’d feel about it, being a politically active black man. I wasn’t going to ask him, but it wasn’t long before someone else did. “I think we’ve turned a sort of a corner as a nation, that we could elect a black man. I just wish it had been someone qualified to do the job”.
I spoke to him yesterday, and he reiterated this position, stating that the Obama presidencey had, as he put it, “Set race relations back a hndred years. Who will trust a black man now?”
I wish I could disagree.

I have to disagree. Trust is hard to gain, and is easily lost. Race has nothing to do with me not trusting any of those jackasses in Washington. They simply have done nothing to earn it.
Didn’t say they had.
I could trust Allen West or Herman Caine, no problem.

“OREOS!!”
I would not trust any politician on spec. They all have a plan and I am not included beyond the desired work I would provide.
It really hurt when my wife told be people where starting to think I was a racist in the run up to the election of the empty suit we have running the country. I wish now I would have ignored her as I should have.
I agree with your talented co worker. It does look like all countries run by Negros will have spun down to a kleptocracy which will set back race realtions more that 100 years.
I am truly sad to see what we have become.
And still, the only way out of the mire is to judge a man solely by the content of his character and actions.

Og,
If you get a chance, tell your friend that I’ll still trust a black man. He’s right though, on all counts except one. Obama’s most ardent followers have done their damnedest to turn this whole thing into, and fire up, a race war. Except in their own eyes, they’ve come away looking like fools. They’ve used it as their last and biggest refuge and played that race card for all it’s worth, over and over. And yes, it probably did have some effect on some people. I’ll tell you what though. I’ve yet to hear anyone that didn’t already have some kind of racial bias issues come out with any new ones due to Obama. Most people I know see him as a Socialist, a Democrat (same thing now), and a narcissist who just happens to be black.
Tell your friend that I’ll happily vote for a man or woman who happens to be Black, Hispanic, Asian, or whatever as long as they have the values I believe in.
I don’t care what color he is; what I care about is how well he does the job.
Thing is, the comments here reflect the opinions of thoughtful people; I don’t believe a large percentage of our population share that same smartitude.
There will be those that believe (there’s that word again) that a BLACK man got us deep into this mess, therefore another cannot be trusted in the position.
For the record, I’m with Mr. Alger…
I also only care about someone’s ability to do the job. I would love to see Herman Cain be our next president. His greatest accomplishment has been running a pizza chain, but at least he can run a pizza chain. I’m not sure how many politicians of either party can do that.
I don’t trust Leftist University droids of any color, or rather I do but not in a nice way.
The only thing I need to know about a politician is how he stands on my right to keep and bear arms. If one is against it, I want to know what it is that makes him fear my being armed should it come to light. Dictators and tyrants come in all colors of the rainbow. As do honorable men.
Once any minority throws down the race card to deflect any criticism of a position they hold, I write them off.
It depresses the hell out of me that our first black president is such a race baiting asshole.
