I have always liked
Bibi Netanyahu, I said to the doctor as he was jamming needles into the base of my skull. “Why?” He asked.
“Because he doesn’t appear to be full of shit.”
Had the same conversation, more or less, with Pascal last night. Pascal used the term “Equivocation”. Me, I think it’s more accurate to say “he doesn’t appear to be full of shit”.
Sure, B.B. had to give a little back in his recent speech to Dumbo, because he had spanked him so hard earlier, but in the end, mr Netanyahu has his head squarely on his shoulders, and is going to do what is best for his country. Wouldn’t it be nice to have leaders here who did what they said and said what they did?

Og,
Didn’t that pretty much end with Washington?
Recently watched an interview of a politician … The Media Professional “axed” the Pol “Why the blunt honesty?”
Implying “We expect to be lied to. Why tell the truth?”
These are the depths our ship has sunk to.
There’s a reason why I like him. In a world full of lawyers, he’s an engineer. Not that being an engineer automatically makes one good, after all, Arafat was an engineer as well. It’s just that bad engineers aren’t as common as bad lawyers.
My post above is incorrect, his undergraduate degree is in architecture, not engineering.
It would be a fucking miracle to have that here. Politicians cannot self-select for honesty.
Politicians can self select for honesty. The problem is very few people would vote for them. Who would vote for a politician who said however your vote, the next four years are going to suck. The decision you have to make, is after those four years, it can suck even more, or it can slowly get better.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have leaders? (FIFY)
True leaders have integrity. Doing what they say and saying what they did (and, by extension, taking ownership of the problems and solutions) are the marks of people with integrity. The fact that our elected class is without integrity is a brand of dishonor on the voters, not so much a comment on the venality of the elected.
You are correct,Dave. I was not being precise.
Our current political system cannot select for honesty, since we don’t have enough voters with the courage to want it.
I believe it was Homer Simpson who said he reads USA Today because it is the only paper with the courage to tell us the truth, “that everything is just fine”.
LOL. Your response was funnier when it happened. A lost moment.
Jimmy Carter was a nuclear engineer who eventually advanced above his skill level to his level of incompetency – Peter principle. An engineer is always right, and few work well with others. Engineers make a lot of things that work in theory and on paper, but the bugs have to be worked out in the field by the non engineers. Especially dicey when we’re discussing battlefield tools and equipment. Be careful what you ask for.
