Black Gun update
Mr B has graciously loaned me a couple of magazines, and the weapon is completely assembled (even the slightly mangled carry handle) so as soon as I can get to a range I will be blowing stuff up. Now I just need- what was it? Oh, yeah, time

Ammo?
yeah, that too
You should have said you needed mags. I have so many I don’t know what to do with them all. At the gun shows those things are going for scrap metal now.
I will probably buy a bunch, maybe off you! But at the moment I just have to get it all working.
BTW,
The Army discovered that mag mags are the number one cause of stoppages in the AR platform. The mags can take a beating when in the body armor vest for several months. It the upper “ears” of the mag get bent, then the next round in line doesn’t align properly to feed.
My personal preference is the plastic magpuls. But my backups are all-new metal ones with magpul followers.
Magpul is the way to go…
Second Old NFO.
Magpul. Or Tango Down. I don’t think I’ve paid money for a metal AR mag in three years or so.
(If you want to go traditional, Brownells GI contract mags have the latest generation of zoomie anti-tilt followers and are made to milspec and do not suck.)
I have a Colt and a Magpul to test. The Magpuls seem plenty inexpensive enough (no more than I’ve paid for good M1 carbine mags) and i like the no-tool disassembly, the little clip that takes the pressure off the feed lips, and the “Made in America”
Og,
Magpul mag’s are sturdy, priced fairly and work fine. Also, if you choose to go the flat rail, no handle route the Magpul folding sight’s are first class.
I may well do that Joe.
Congrats, Og! The most fun is when you put your face on a gun you just built and pull the trigger the first time.
OK, there really isn’t that much chance you’re going to blow your face off. The most likely problems would be a failure to fire or failure to cycle properly. But there’s that little twinge of doubt in your mind.
It’s a hoot. EBRs are like potato chips; you can’t have just one. Think I need to make another one.
