Big black horse and a ch… well, no, just a big black horse.
Several, actually. I’ve been around morgans and percherons and clydes, but I dreampt about horses last night that made them all seem like ponies.
These were probably 28-30 hands, I don’t know if a real horse has ever been that big, but these were big, the withers huge and muscular, the hide so black as to be bluish.
They looked at me and shook their heads in the way horses sometimes do, but made no noise.
Their were four of them. They were breathtakingly beautiful
They looked like they were waiting for their riders. I expect they won’t be waiting long.
I should cut back on the oysters before bed.

Crap, that’s a dream to set you back.
Somehow I doubt they will carry riders that Pratchett penned.
Big, black…..
Did they have white socks with feathering?
Man, that’d be a team to watch….
I’ve been around Percherons, and the local fair always has Belgians on display. And a four horse team of Belgians pulling a lightly ballasted wagon at a gallop is something to behold. Especially from just a few yards away. But those sound like Shires on steroids.

Hmmm.. You reminded me of this sir.

Sounds of the apocalypse? Right now I can only remember two of the riders, Death and Disease. Where they rigged ready to ride or just milling about?
War, famine, pestilence, and death.
Heh…
Just wait for Thief of Time…
Man…
“Watching” you read the Discworld series for the first time is like watching a movie. I know what’s coming but I can’t “warn” the actors. Well, I could, but I’m not that much of a jerk.

I thought all the riders had horses of different hues. “Death rides a pale horse.” for example.
In any case, your dreams are always worth hearing about. Tends to place the rest of us, dreamwise, in our places. (How many times can one dream about Christina Hendricks anyhow??)

Once more.
Always once more.
Wait…too creepy?

Those are fairly well known in literature… War, Famine, Pestilence and Death… You must have been reading Pratchett! :-)
You weren’t dressed like Catherine the Great by any chance, were you?
Oh well. Remembered the big one.
Now if we could just find a place to ride it all out. And, no, I have lived in Idaho and while a beautiful place, it is the first place all those people in California will head.
Maybe you should cut down on the oysters, but it sure would eliminate blogging material. Just sayin.’
We owned a team of draft horses in MN. They weighed in at about a ton apiece, but they weren’t 20-30 hands high, by any stretch. I used to eat, breathe, and sleep horses. Forgot more about horses than most people ever learn. Sweet dream, Og. Horses are a good symbol.
Og,
Just to answer your theoretical, the biggest horse ever verified was a bit over 20 hands (and it was a Perch crossbreed).
Read Good Omens (by Pratchett and Neil Gaiman).
All I can say :)
Done.
Gus, that and “American Gods” perhaps?
