has- mostly due to our deliberate inaction- been reduced to a series of quasi independent but colluding soviets, the likelihood of our turning the ship around is dwindling into the distance.
The new frontier will be understanding how to thrive in our brave new world, and most of that has to do with camouflage. See, if you get big enough for anyone to notice you, you will be shorn off, like the tallest blades of grass in the lawn. The whole system will depend on gradual and invisible lateral growth. The days of one person achieving and doing visibly well are over- no matter how successful you are you cannot let anyone know it, and as much of your success as you can must be kept off the books. The cosmic game of whack-a-mole is in our future, and if you poke your head up, some agency of the fedgov will be there to peen you over.
The Ann Barnhardt model of asceticism is fine for an individual, but to succeed as patriots we have to play the game, and right now the game is to overwhelm liberalism by sheer force of numbers. They have defeated us thoroughly in an ongoing war of attrition; the only remaining plan is to keep our successes and our finances to ourselves so that we starve the beast. It will live for generations feeding off those not smart enough to hide their assets properly, but eventually it will be impossible for them to tax anymore, to borrow anymore, or to spend like the drunken sailors to buy the votes of the ill informed and the downright stupid.
At that point, the well provisioned, well hidden producers that have sat tight and avoided notice will have an opportunity to step in and actually accomplish something.
This is already how most people I know are approaching this issue. You are probably one of them- you pay cash for things, you don’t leave paper trails of transactions, you buy and sell and keep it to yourself. More than one person I know has the cash on hand to buy a decent used car. More than one person I know has their home paid for. And I bet there are more but they don’t share their information with me, and that’s how it should be.
This is not a 10 year plan or a 20 year plan but a 100 year plan. The people participating will pass it along. It may not happen in our grandchildren’s time, but if we keep our eyes open and our mouths shut, it will happen.
And if we ever allow the non productive to vote again, we deserve exactly what we get.

Been eating mushrooms before bedtime again?
Since I’m a lowly peon employee there is always a paper trail of my income.
Not much activity in the off the books income right now, but I’m always on the lookout for opportunities.
The struggle to avoid being bitten by a non-producing, parasitic zombie and become one is my biggest struggle right now.
It is very tempting to give into despair and not give a $#@! about anything, but I fight to avoid that deep dark hole at all costs.
Start planning now for the time when the state seeks to eliminate cash and force everybody into a place where you can’t buy and sell without leaving an audit trail. When that happens — or sometime before — currencies of resort will crop up to replace the lost dollar. If you don’t have them and are not prepared to trade in them, you won’t be able to get them without the state knowing. (See above about audit trails.)

Patrick: the idea is to KEEP that “paper trail income” and accurately and completely account for it at all times. And then do everything else on your own. You get the idea, just work harder at it.
Too many problems, not enough time.
If we continue with some form of a democracy, we need to focus on having income to be able to vote.
If we have a soft crash, cash (green) will work for a time going to silver and then barter. Depending on how deep that lasts will determine what this country looks like in 10, 20 or 100 years.
If the crash is quick and without warning it would be 9 out of 10 Americans would be dead in 1 year.
Like the roulette dealer says, make your bets. We are in for a ride.

The entire economy has to go underground, not just available cash. Entire companies will have to work and sell underground. There is precedent for this: Venezuala before Chavez got the reins.
When enough of business works sub-rosa, the Government has only two choices: accept cuts or impose total dictatorship. It will trend towards the latter, but the limiting factor is the young liberal entrepreneurs and techhies. Once they abandon the socialist enterprise, the govenment can’t operate. The young urban professionals ARE the useful tools, the enablers of the Obama Era. They will lose faith as they are taxed out of business, and when Obama loses them, his whole system goes away almost overnight. The full implementation of Obamacare ought to push the young liberals over that cliff.
Problem is, without something workable to fall back to, Obama will just be replaced by a different bunch of jerks. The GOP has not advanced that fall-back plan, and may never get around to it in time. They’re too busy trying to invent Socialism Lite.
