I left Kim & Connie’s place, having already darkened their door for longer than I should, and hit the road for parts unknown.

I sort of had a vague plan for stopping by to say hello to AnvilBoy, but he was working, and it ended up being 500 miles out of my way, so i stopped, got a room, and prepped to move on in the morning.

Now, I have stayed in a thousand hotels. Maybe more. The worst, bar none, was in Bay minette Alabama- a Holiday Inn that had lost their franchise, and was just an ” Inn”.

Outside of Tulsa, though, I found one that was damned close.

No, it didn’t hasve bugs or nastiness, in fact it was fairly clean, but man, did it have issues.

First, the door didn’t have a lock.

No, really. Anyone walking up could just walk right in.

So I took out the Schmidt Rubin, and jammed the heel under the leg of the bed, and the muzzle under the door handle. I put 120 lbs of ammo in front of the door, and put the 45 on the nightstand.

I slept like a baby, why do you ask?

Anyway, I hadn’t even looked in the crapper. I peed before bed, with the lights off, but I didn’t even see the bathroom before I turned in. Maybe I would have driven on in search of another hotel.

Anyway- where was i? Oh, yes, now the immigration bill is dead

SHUT UP! the morons will try to ram the goddamned Fairness Doctrine down our throats.

Look: Close the borders. Move the wetbacks out. Make the immigration process better and more streamlined- but DON’T LET EVERY ASSHOLE IN WHO CAN RUN JUMP OR SWIM.

And “fairness”? Fair to whom?

In more than one instance I have watched followers of the hard left partyline get hammered by their own people for disagreeing with anything their overlords posit.

On the other hand, it’s not only considered acceptible but nearly mandatory that conservatives question- and in the case of this horrid immigration bill, attempt to counter- the actions of their party leaders.

The idea of thinking for yourself and making up your own mind is “supposed” to be the exclusive property of the left, but IN the left, you can only make up your own mind if you end up agreeing with the party line.

“there’s a sucker born every minute” applies nowhere more thoroughly than to people who would believe that more government is good, that higher taxes are good, that government controlled anything is good.

Questioning authority is the only way to behave- and you have to question the authority you most trust first.
