We lost Lou Reed the other day, hard to believe he was 71. Hard to believe Joe Cocker outlived him, Jimi Hendrix, and Jerry Garcia.

I loved two songs most, “Sweet Jane” and “Busload of Faith”. he did a lot of other worthy stuff, and of course being a hipster (Perhaps The Alpha Hipster) his politics were merely ignorant, but I liked his voice.

it is said only 60,000 of his first album were ever sold, but that each buyer started a band of his own. This may be true, but I suspect most of those bands were the Shaggs. Hope you had a busload of faith, Lou.

Everyone and their brother who likes to stay up late has become a ‘Nature photographer’. Add some catchy music and a presenter with a british accent and suddenly two hours of watching porcupines mate is a WTTW special and not just America’s Stupidest Home video.

Though, in WTTW’s defense, the people who watch AFV probably would have no clue what a pangolin is.
