There’s a burr oak

in the front yard, maybe forty or forty five feet, but broad, and with a trunk around five feet wide.

This year it is dropping acorns like it never has before, they lay on the ground a couple layers deep, now. I love the tree, but it’s hollow, and I expect some day soon I will be forced to cut it or trim it back very hard, I will not relish doing either. It has been a lovely tree and it has shaded our home from the late day sun for many years.

So I have decided to scatter it’s seeds far and wide, so that it’s genetic heritage will spread across the land as far as I can take them. I’ll keep some in my car and put them in the ground wherever I see loamy soil, and maybe hand some off to friends and family. Today I put a handful in the ground at several expressway rest areas. Yeah, maybe hardly any will make it, but they just get eaten in my yard. I owe the big old brute at least to try.

where the hell

Are all the people bitching about Romneys $700 billion “lie”?
Maybe they noticed that non democrats can read.

Funshow!

The summer shows always seem to be smaller than the winter ones, at Indy, but the crowds- particularly prior to big elections- seem to be good.

Went saturday with Partner to see the show and visit with his brother for a while. Would have been nice to go to the blogmeet for a while as well but the timing wasn’t good. Next time, I suppose.

Did get a UTG pistol grip for the AR, it fits nice and gives me an enclosed storage space for a pullthrough. It seemed to me to have abetter feel than the Magpul, and similar build quality. We’ll see. I may also yet get an ACS magpul stock. I need to SHOOT it a lot more, is what I need.

Shame to have missed the blogmeet, next time I hope- but it did allow me to get back to mow this morning, and now it’s raining and I’mna take a nap.

I used to be fairly well known for my gas, but get Partner in an enclosed space, then by God he can do some damage. I figured we were going to die, if not from the fart then from the erratic driving.
