His only problem, like Betty Loren-Maltese, was thinking small. He’s a classic money grubbing polack, always looking for a deal, always looking for a scam, always looking for a way to make an easy buck, and usually investing more effort in trying to run a scam than if he’d just done the same amount of honest work. And now he’s going to do at least 12 years because he was trying to scam a million bucks, while the likes of Daley retired with hundreds of millions.

Almost a pity he isn’t going to a “Regular” slammer. I can just see some bubba that’s been in stir since 1976 looking down at the top of Blago’s head, closing his eyes, and thinking of Dorothy Hammill.

And I remember what it’s about.

But I’m damned if I plan to like it. I do hope that eventually I get to park my ass somewhere further south, or at the very least, spend a good part of the year somewhere warm. I have spent a big whopping chunk of my life dealing with this weather. I’m coming to the end of my patience with it.

But Mike Rowe has a handle on it. His website is devoted to the idea that, hey, maybe it’s important that the world has plumbers and carpenters and auto mechanics. And that maybe those people are just as important as academics and accountants and maybe even enviromentalists. I like the money quote on that:

Damn.

Mike being a Hollywood type himself may not be the expert on everything, but man, it’s refreshing to see anyone who is this far in the public eye even talking like this.
