Time for your anointment!

Back in 83 I was working on my machinist’s apprenticeship in a Northwest Indiana steel mill. Groundhog day, I’d had a horrible case of the runs, and stayed home from work. It wasn’t common for me to do so, at the time a couple late or missed days could lose you your gig.

Anyway, a day and a half later, I’m feeling pretty good, in fact, I had even had a solid bowel movement and a couple of dry farts. So at the end of my day, pretty well convinced that I had returned to normal, I finished up my workday and headed for the showers.

Would it kill you to be nice?

A few friends who’ve read my blog have commented in person or written to me about this post, saying things like “well, it’s damned sure YOU’re not Fred Rogers” or “Who has time to go fix everyone’s problems?”

Boy, do you think it’s possible to miss the point any more?

It isn’t that everyone should quit their jobs and start tending to everyone else’s needs. That wasn’t the spirit of the original post, and those of you who read it, and got it, know exactly what I mean.

Wow, a zero responsibility day!

This almost NEVER happens. I’ve always got something going on, someone’s car to fix, someone’s furnace to look at, someone’s computer to repair. Today, I’ve been to mass, went out to breakfast with the family, napped on the couch, and blogged. Now I’m going back to napping on the couch. As I have no interest in football, I will be watching the Full House Marathon with the daughter, or rather sleeping through same. If this is what retirement is like, I’ll take some right now.
