Gut Rumbles

One of the better blogs in the blogosphere, Acidman, is making noises about quitting blogging.

Now, I don’t know the man personally, but I’ve been reading his blog a long time. The impression I get from his blog, is that he’s an occasionally grouchy old fart, who has been shit at and hit, and shot at and missed, more than a few times. He seems to have an ego about the size of the state of Alaska, Texas being too confining, and he seems to have a history of letting his mouth write checks that his ass couldn’t always cash (well, mostly where relationships with women were concerned) In other words, an asshole. Just the kind of guy I like and respect a lot. A guy who gets things done without a lot of yapping. A guy you’d like to have next to you if you had a tough, filthy job to do.

Go over there and tell him to shut the fuck up and blog.

The Kerry Presidency

You know, polls being what they are, and fickle as Americans can be, there’s a chance we will have a new President in a little over a week.

For anyone who might wonder, for people who have trouble imagining, here’s a little window into what might be the Kerry presidency.

Damn good eating.

The Ogs have been graced with a visit from some ogwife outlaws, the black sheep of the Ogwife family, which means they’s my kind of folks.

the brother-in law and his wife came down from Canada to deal with some immigration issues, (He’s canadian, she’s austrian) and were nice enough to show up on our doorstep. The brother-in-law’s wife is a remarkably well trained cook; the last time we visited them, we were treated to awesome salads and schnitzel that melted in your mouth. here, they visited with us, we took them around sightseeing in Chicago, fed them at the nicest restaurants we could find, and then they cooked dinner for us.

Oh. My. God. I have eaten past the point of popping.

Oh, this was not any kind of “gourmet” fare; this was good old bohemian down-home cooking. Chicken and bananna sauce. Paprikash and Spaetzle. Mmmm, Mmmm good.

I feel loved. If my relatives were more like this I’d visit them more often.
