Trade Show!
IMTS begins in eight hours. Yeah, welcome to insomniac theater, I’m up and around because I’m in some pain, but also because I was unable to post earlier- no power till around midnight.
Anyway: the last bastion of serious machine tool hucksterism will begin soon. Billions of dollars are being spent, some of them as I type, and when the last crate is packed up some two weeks hence, trillions of dollars worth of business will have been conducted.
But, of course, the economy blows chunks, and it’s all W’s fault.
I’ll make snide comments from my cellphone on this post through the day. My dogs are barking and this has not yet begun.
Lest anyone think otherwise, i love the manuacturing industry, and the people I work for/with are the very best IN that industry. And the heartache of the show is ALWAYS worth the effort, because of the people you meet and the results. It’s just SUCH a drag while it’s happening.

Hard floor. Leg pain.
Hard floor. Leg pain.
Man, Og, I feel for ya. Always hated doing tradeshows.
You should make your remote-snide-commenting life easier: get a pocketpc and a bluetooth phone that can act as an EDGE modem. Then you can use the touch screen instead of T9 for posting. :)
I know what you mean about the standing all day on a hard floor, altho I haven’t done it in the context of a trade show. Good luck.
Gene Haas is a poopy head
oh how do i love sitting even on the crapper.
LOL – well, at least in some ways the show is worth it. Nothing worse than investing all that time, money, and effort for a show that sucks. Now all you need to do is figure out where to go and get a foot massage. *grin*
I hate the shows, but I love the results.
That’s so evil that it has to be that way, huh?
You go get ’em Og!!
Good Luck. Happy Hunting!
Except for two ten minute breaks and a half hour lunch, I stand for 8-12 hours a day on cement floors at my job… doesn’t really bother me much. I’ve always been able to stand for long periods of time without problems.
try it in dress shoes, Grau.
