Book Review: Family Fortunes by Kim Du Toit
I waited to read this after IMTS, because I wanted to be able to relax and enjoy it. I usually spend a day on a novel, and that feels rushed a lot of times, so I took two days and read this.
I certainly lack the literary talent to do justice to Kim’s work. What I can say, is that this represents what I imagine is a very accurate vignette of victorian life. if you don’t have it, buy it and read it now. If that doesn’t interest you, you’re probably some kind of an unedumacated philistine.

Wow, your new blog sure looks great from Savannah, GA.
I too read this work of Kim’s.
I thought quite highly of it. He captures well a period of important transitions, agricultural to industrial, blackpowder to smokeless, inheritance to achievement.
