   My girlfriend thinks it odd that I do. Unless I’m getting ready for work, I always take a book with me. Things just work better that way.

   I’ve shown this post to my wife. I swear she was convinced till now that I was the only guy on earth – of my generation – who took reading material into the can. She thought that practice ended with our dads and grandfather.

   I grew up on a sheepranch in Montana and we had no plumbing, electricity etc. Consequently we had the old outdoor two-holer and for toilet paper it was an old Sears or Monky-Wards catalog and while you were setting there doing your job you read what was left of the catalog.
   This is where it all started.
