Mutual of Omaha’s ‘Wild Kingdom” has a bunch of old clips up on their website. Go have a look- I especially like the “Marlin got out of the jeep” one. Not too often you see the spokesperson for an insurance company in the water wrestling with a snake, and trying to jam it into a pillowcase.
The times they are a’changing. Good to remember those old TV moments- that was real comfort TV for me, when I was of an age.
I’m gonna kick back in the Jeep with a cold Bud while Jim wrestles an alligator.

I used to love “Wild Kingdom”. Marlin hangs out in the Jeep while Jim jabs the lion with a sharpened stick (or a bunch of bananas).
This show, while it does bring back lots of old memories, has been the brunt of many jokes at Casa d’Alger.

Jim had it easy. Jacques Cousteau was your typical fwench prick and made Marlin look like a nice fella. His shows always started off like this:
“I sent my son, Phillipe, and Falco, down into the murky depths with the man-eating hammerhead sharks….”
But whenever there was fun to be had like punting squawking flightless penguins around, Ol’ Jacques handled it personally…
I loved Wild Kingdom as a kid. It was a Sunday night ritual at our house. I never did figure out what Mutual of Omaha meant.
