Do your old pal Og a flavor
It’s a week till Christmas. Find someone who needs something, and get it for them, if you can. Shovel a walkway, insulate a window, make sure someone who can’t get to mass another way can do so. Make a difference. Even if the person in question may not ompletely deserve it, actually better if they don’t. The undeserving nature of the recipient doesn’t diminish the value of the gift.

Still waiting for word on the vehicle, but will have it this week. Will be bringing her and her family a buttload of clothes and toys tomorrow, though.
Already did… just today in fact. I just wish I could have done more to help… *sigh*
Hey, Og,
I have a Mossberg, 12 gauge. Will the spring weaken if I keep it loaded with 6 shells—home defense?
What if I remove the shells in the AM and reload at night?
hey, pro Plum! LTNS!!!
No, the spring will be fine, my Remington has stayed loaded for 25 years with no appreciable weakening of the spring. If you think it seems to be weakening, go buy a replacement spring from Numrich Gunparts, they cost a couple dollars.
Took your advice and mowed the next door neighbor’s lawn this morning before work.
Didn’t do this individually, but had been planning to until I heard that my group at work was getting the same thing together.
One of my co-workers, B, and his wife has been trying for years to adopt. Tomorrow they pick up their baby.
I’d been planning on taking my lunch hour to go to Babies R Us and get them a gift card for whatever comes up that they didn’t anticipate (won’t be much, sounds like they’ve got the bases WELL covered) or for the ongoing costs (diapers, etc).
Turns out another cow-orker was taking up a donation to get LOTS of stuff, so I kicked in on that instead. He’d actually gone and found where they registered (my response: “You can DO that?!?) and there was still a list of stuff they wanted. Sent B home this afternoon with enough baby stuff that I think he had to make two trips to his car.
Bringing home a new baby I guess would make Christmas in his home pretty good :)
In unrelated news, another friend at work (and a former supervisor of mine) and his wife are expecting, with a due date of Dec 25. Add Lisa (due in late June) and my best friend and his new wife (also due late June), and babies are poppin’ out all around!
But, point taken. I can’t think of anything offhand that anybody I know needs… maybe I’ll check with the church around the corner and see if they know of anybody who needs transport help. That’s a good one I wouldn’t have thought of.
