Still got it
Havent’ done any trim work in quite some time, but I threw the mitersaw in the truck along with the small and medium air nailers, went out to the sister’s place to frame in a window. I hung the bastard before the beginning of deer season but hadn’t had a chance to go back and finish it correctly.
Ripped the extension jambs to the right size, (handsaw) backplaned them to give them clearance so they could expand and contract with the window, shimmed them flush with the drywall, mitered and fitted the casing, all told about an hour. Had to keep walking all the way around the house or it would have been more like 25 minutes. Miters were perfect, the corners correct, I was quite pleased with myself. I can still do this stuff, on time and in budget, after more than ten years of not doing trim work.
Nice that those skills, once hardwired in, stick and stay.

It’s official, I hate you ;)
Come on over for the compound pain in the asses any time ya please.
Dick, the compound stuff is a serious pain, I know. One thing that makes it less of a pain, is to mock up the corner the miter will be used in, and use that as a cutting jig.
We’re still waiting. You’ll be here for dinner……..and to help on the study project when ?
