OK, Mr Escalade:
You found out that your $50k machine is not proof against the laws of physics. Mind getting it out of my way? Spinning all four tires at once still gets you nowhere. Fucktard.
Shit, we couldn’t have had this snow during DEER SEASON?
Assfnords.

That’s kinda how I felt this morning. We woke up to about 6 inches, with a possible 12 more in lake effect today. Why couldn’t we have had this a few weeks ago, and have the 40s now?
Oh well. I’m seriously hoping no branches covered in in ice, covered in snow come down and take the power out.
Damn it. We had less than an inch and the sun’s out. My wife isn’t nearly pissed off enough yet :)
Growing up in Norther Idaho, and dealing with f**ktards from more southern climes who had moved up to be in a more “rustic” area, I was always amazed at the number of people who thought “Four Wheel Drive” also meant “Four Wheel Stop”. When the first snow hit, you could tell who moved up from California, because they were invariably resting well off the roadway, with a nice set of tire tracks to tell you where they braked, skid, and slid.
Although, I did enjoy laughing at them when they spun off the road in their fancy SUV, and I drove by in a two-wheel drive vehicle that they wouldn’t even consider good enough to sniff at.
For the second time in a week, Portland made the national news with live-action videos of cars smashing and crashing. It seems that area-surveillance cameras are good for entertainment after all.
Having skiied during my entire youth, and spent three winters in the UP of MI, I have more time in between gearshifts on the slick stuff in my various vehicles than all of my fellow citizens have behind the wheel in snow, so I’m here to tell you that driving on snow or ice around here isn’t for the faint-hearted. One can easily master one’s own driving skills by using common sense, but one can never be safe with these levels of idiots on the highway alongside you.
Do you mean videos like this, Rivrdog?

That’s the intersection of SW 20th and Salmon. The camera doesn’t do justice to how steep the grades are on both streets. Believe me, they’re steep enough that you’d have to be a real dope to attempt to drive down them under those conditions.
