Done deal.
One week after the news, I am re-employed by a different division of the same company. Same money, same same, same.
Working for a guy I’ve known forever, has been with the company almost as long as me.I’ll be doing some things that are familiar, and some things that are utterly new, so I get to climb up that learning curve again, something I enjoy a great deal.
Remember, something you learn is a benefit your employer provides that they can never ask for you to return. I’m amazed by the people who get upset at having to learn new things.

20 years in IT and I’m still starting over every three.
Love it or leave, just don’t stand still.
Uggh
“Uncertainty” is never a good place to be in.
Great news!
Congrats on landing on your feet, my friend.
Congrats, Og. I just started a new one two months ago. What a mess this place is. Word is that they hired a kid for maintenance. Sent the whole crew to ABB robot school and the kid takes a job working for ABB. Now there are new rules coming re: training I hear.
Yeah, I keep waiting for somebody to fire me. It’ll happen, just don’t know when.
When it does though, it won’t matter.
12 years at the same job has made the same job boring. But I still really don’t know what I want to do when I grow up.
There’s sure something to be said for having a job you actually like to go to every day. Many folks go to work just to collect a paycheck.
I had complete faith this would work out well for you. Congrats, my Oggly friend.
Well, damn. I was hoping there would be at least a little lag between gigs, giving you a good excuse to come and visit us.
Oh, well. Think of yourself then!
Yay! Sounds terrific!
As for learning new stuff. When someone tells me they don’t want to learn anything new, I have the hardest time NOT telling them to go find a good plot in a graveyard… they’re dead and don’t know it. Heh.
What Connie said.

Wonderful news!! :)
Congrats, Og.
Excellent news. Employment is a very good thing…….
And I’m with you on the learning part. I’ve never got it when people complain about having to go to training. That just makes the resume look that much better….
Congratulations Og, and good luck!!
Og,
I’m so glad things worked out great :) What wonderful news to come home to after my holiday! *chuckles*
