Puppy Bowl
A thousand times more entertaiing than the Big Game.
On the other hand, the commercials.
The Pedigree one, for instance. THe one that shows all the faces of the pound dogs. The one where the narrator says “What I don’t know, is how I ended up here. I know I’m a good dog.And I just want to go home” “>.”
Makes me want to take the truck to the shelter and bring home a couple dozen, I swear. Anyone who tells you ain’t no art in commercials, ain’t seen this. Anyone ain’t touched by that, fuck’em. Nobody don’t like a dog I want anything to do with.
I have a dog, a six year old American Staffordshire Terrier named Ozzy. He is getting fat because my back and legs are bad enough now that I can’t walk with him. I have a huge back yard and lots of room in the house. I went to the local PAWS to see about bringing home a pup. I figured they’d have lots of dogs that needed a loving home with another dog to play with and be with. They wanted me to jump through so many damned hoops and pay so many fees, fill out so many forms and agree to so many intrusions in my life, I just told ’em to forget it, I’d look around the neighborhood for a stray to take in. They couldn’t seem to understand. Idiots. They want control so badly they’d rather give a perfectly nice pooch the needle before they’d allow that a person might not be the doggie version of Hannibal Lechter.
We watched the puppy bowl, too. We both wanted every one of those pups.
Watching your video, we’ll take all of them, too. Poor little doggies, don’t belong in cages.
Now Damnit Og. I can’t get a dog right now, and that video KILLED me!!! And it’s all your fault!
Seriously – that’s a great one. And you’re right….if you can watch that and NOT be moved I really don’t want to call you friend.
I like dogs, but I’ll never own another. Not after what happened to my last one.

That commercial just makes me want to cry (and adopt more dogs) every time I see it. :-( Both of my furry kids were adopted.
Reason number 2,348 why I donate *money* and not *time* to the humane society. I just couldn’t bear to be there looking at them not being able to give them a home.
I had to keep Mrs. B. away from the Puppy Bowl. Otherwise, I’m certain we’d have been at the shelter this morning before I could get to work. One dog (Australian shepherd) and one crazy cat (Maine Coon)are enough right now. We plan on getting a puppy though before the year is over.
When Elder Daughter announced that her first project after joining Discovery Channel as an assistant producer was to be something called “Puppy Bowl III,” my only thought was “WTF?” Later, I found out just how huge a viewership PB pulls in.
I am a proud daddy…and ya gotta love them puppies and kitties!
