What is probably worse than what she became is how she became it. Instead of steering this nice little girl into a job as a receptionist, hair stylist, or cocktail hostess, agents ravenous for a buck or six (undoubtedly related to those wolves you mentioned, Og) pushed her into areas she probably would have been better off to avoid.
She could have been a comfortable housewife with a part-time job and a piece of the American dream. What she lacked was the right kind of friends and acquaintances who could have drawn her into that kind of life. Instead, she got people who fixated on her looks and gambled on her lack of intelligence to make a crapload of cash off of her before she burned out at an early age.
I don’t mourn what she became. I mourn what she could have been.
