Surgery update
Because of the job change and the molasses like speed of the University of Chicago, and quite a few other intervening issues, I have moved to the university of Illinois. The doctor there came highly reccomended by my own doctor, and it looks like I will be having the Lap band procedure. Several reasons for this: I’m a bit scared of the complexity of the other operation- and while it looked like a good fit, there were a few “oh by the ways” that seemed a bit too risky.
So the bottomline is that I will probably have the surgery end of march. In the meantime, I need to lose 35 lbs.
This should be a piece of cake, god knows I’ve done it so often before- so I’m doing Atkins up until I get down to the line, then they have an all-liquid diet I have to do for two weeks.

Bravo ! It’s nice to see you moving ahead on this. I am still arguing with my insurance company. Long story.

And, apropos of the post above, are you legal for Longhorn Sunday? Not potatoes or bread — I get that. But… no adult beverages? Yoiks!

Don’t hardly drink to begin with, Mark. I have a six pack of guinness in the fridge with four remaining bottles, been there since 98.
Well, I can understand THAT. Guiness is God’s curse on the Irish. Now, if it were Harp, that’d be another matter.

And the trip has been moved to the week of the fourth.
I know 4 people who have had the procedure, they are all extremely pleased. Good luck with your atkins.
Atkins is a great choice.

Good luck, Og. I think I mentioned a while back that my wife had this, altho not lap-banding. Hope you have fewer complications than she did.
I did the Atkins for two years, If you need any tips or suggestions I’d be more then happy to share them with you.
Yeah,Contagion, I may well do that. Boredom is the prime suspect.
