A real barber shop
I just found one close to the house. Looking forward to going there for an old fashioned shave-and-haircut. Doubt it will be two bits.
Fifteen bucks, the brotherinlaw says. Says he does the whole haircut thing and then gives you the scalp/shoulder massage with the vibratey hand thingy. I haven’t done that since I still had my first case of razor burn, I’m looking forward to this.

Simple pleasures are best.
Ugh
If they shave your neck with a straight razor, you know that you’ve found the real deal.
Dolly says to keep the beard. It’s very cool.

Oh, I’d never lose the beard, but a lot of my face still needs shaving.
I wish I had a barber like that around here. I’m stuck with “stylists”.
“two bits”
we ARE old………………..lol
My barber Sal died in 1991. Straight razor hot lather, bay rum. I miss him every time I get a haircut.
My barber is the son (and maybe grandson)of a barber. He’s good, he listens, he’s quick once you get into the chair – he’s popular too – and he stocks good magazines.
He’s got the family collection of straight razors, but it’s illegal to usethem inConnecticut nowadays… not safe, dont’cha know. His father would custom-blend a lather after examining and touching a customer’s beard and select the appropriate razor. There’s some craft! The razors are now in his gun safe.
He’s active in town affairs, especially Vol.
fire Dept. The scanner’s always on.
There aren’t many salt-of-the-earth types left in this shore town, but he’s one.
