The next thing
I can’t wait for the new I-nternet. Steve Jobs invents new URLs that can only be reached by Apple computers and Iphones. Special features will be available only to users of approved devices. Then interfaces for Win machines will be written which will drag those machines to a crawl.

From what I hear, if you’re not in range of WiFi, AT&T’s EDGE broadband cellular service is like bad dialup. See http://www.slate.com/id/2169352/nav/tap1/ as linked by Glenn Reynolds the other day.
This may be a dumb thought, but why?
If they can’t be reached, doesn’t that pretty destroy the entire reason of being for the net?
Dick, dick, dick. You obviously haven’t had any of the Apple Kool-Ade. If Steve Jobs touches it, it HAS to be better. So the I-tards will run to get it.
I just had an idea for a joint project Jobs could launch with the Rand Corporation that would increase users’ electronic “independence” and “self-determination”. It would be called “I ‘n Rand”.
Ouch.
That’s just silly, og.
Mostly because Jobs isn’t nearly that stupid. (Plus, half the time it seems that Microsoft has no problem making machines crawl on its own – and I say this as someone that likes Windows and develops for it for a living.)
(And from what I hear, Nathan, EDGE just got bumped to 80kbits, which is faster than any dialup ever was.
Is it “broadband”? Not really. Does that matter? Also not so much.)
Ooh! 80kbps! Wow! Zoomin’ right along there! ;)
Yeah, 80kbps makes me want to go right out there and buy an iPhone.
Not.
80kbps on Edge. Most of the time people will be using it on WiFi.
They need to sell the iPhone without the phone. I have a phone, I want a cooler iPod.
