What toasts my taco is that the MSM is still on its “let’s get out now” meme. Before the surge, it was “let’s get out, we’re losing!” Now that as you say, decent leadership and enough equipment and boots on the ground, show you can actually win a war, the meme has become “let’s get out now, the Iraqi government is not dedicated enough for us to continue — look, they did like the US Congress and left town for a month.” What a bunch of untrained men have to do with counterinsurgency is never explained.
Sitting and doing nothing is somehow preferable to visiting their constituents.
