Nice
Two days of no power. Just sitting around, watching candles burn, reading, no computers.
Heaven, I tell you. Well, except for the constant drone of generators.
We never started ours because we preferred the silence. And the dark.
And now power is back, and I have AC agian, which is nice, but after I finish this post I’m turning everyhting back off again and poretending it’s still off.

It’s still 90 outside, so we have to have the power.
Yep, been there, done.
Every year as a matter of fact.
Was at Indiana Beach yesterday and the storms came rolling in about the time we were leaving. Amazing lightning display on the way home. Only lost power for a short time but north of 10 was a different matter. This has really cut in to my squirrel hunting.
Couldn’t live without A/C. Can’t quite cypher how we did back in the day.

Did without AC for the first 23 years of my life, now I might could kill for it. Sad.
I lived without a/c for most of my childhood — in Florida. (My father’s metabolism was set at “lizard” so he took all the a/c units out of our home, claimed they were making us sick; back then — in the Seventies! — few of the schools were completely airconditioned, I didn’t get an air-conditioned classroom until I was in high school.) And I was miserable for most of my childhood. Air conditioning is the greatest invention known to mankind.
That’s why I like re-enacting so much.
Glad you’ve weathered the storms, and got some peace out of the deal too!
