44 magnum sweetness.
The barrel wrings in perfectly. The damned thing is so pretty it makes me cry. I can hardly wait till the rest of it is ready for blue. headspace nearly perfection itself. The go gauge goes and the no go gauge no goes.
I need to mess a bit with the shell carrier. Not too much, though, I don’t think. And the ejector leaves something to be desired. But again, not a dealbreaker. Photos sooner or later. I’m having too much fun playing. If I can get it to shoot well for me I’m gonna have something nice.

Don’t know if you reload Honorable Og, but I would highly reccomend a load if you do.
Hornady makes a 265-grain soft-nose .44 projetile. For decades it has served well in both the .44 Magnum and the .444 Marlin. It’s jacket is of a thickness intended more for rifle use than handgun, and it has a fine reputation for effectiveness on deer.
Sounds like a good projectile. I am collecting homerolled recipes.
When I start reloading, one of the first guns I’m gonna buy is a .44 magnum lever-action.
Hopefully a Henry Repeating Arms “Big Boy”…
There’s a book called “Accurizing the Factory Rifle” that has lots of tips for lever guns. You might already have it on your shelf, but it’s worthwhile if you don’t.
