Bad Dogblogging
Dog has somehow turned on us. No idea why, but will now growl and snap, have been bitten several times.
We’ve taken him to the vet who says he is the picture of health. he’s just a teenager who wants to assert his authority, or something. Will have to get him fixed and then take him to a local place where there’s supposedly a good behavioral guy.
Had quite a row with him tonight, snapping and snarling, and I frankly have no idea what to do. Kills me, I love this dog- but I’m not having a biting animal in my house.

Time to drop him off with a good trainer, or get out the pistol.
Not a good choice, but one that has to be made.
Yep, I hear you dick. And damned soon.
Bark right back. SHow him you’re the alpha. Beat the crap out of him if you have to. It’s the only wya. HE’s attempting to assert dominance challenges on you, and you’re letting him get away with it.
Take him outside and piss on him after rolling him a time or two. This is how the alpha dog of a pack treats a lesser animal. Then have the wife pee in a cup and put it in a squirt bottle and she needs to piss on him too. I know it sounds weird but it works.
I’m sorry to read that you’re having problems with your dog. When you take him to be neutered, soon I hope, ask that they draw some blood for a CBC and Chem Screen/profile. Chemical imbalances can , also, be a cause of behavior changes.I hope that you find the source of his problems.

from the vet’s office
We have an amazing trainer in Cincinnati.Think about it. It’s not that bad of a drive. And you want “one on one”. NOT group classes. Get your moneys worth. Your dog and your sanity, or what remains of it, worth it.

yeah, go ahead. mess with ogdog scrotum, that won’t make him more mad. good plan.
i’d bite you too, sheesh.
Thanks, swmbo. Chris, I don’t let him win- I outweigh him by a few pounds-LOL! and I had to cuff him a bit to prevent him from biting me last night. But I will do what the trainer asks.
Problem now, is the vet won’t be available to do the neuter till the 31st.
You got boltcutters, don’tcha? That’ll show him most rikki-tik who’s in charge…
I’ve had good results performing “Man Bites Dog”. Ears are tender, close to the face, and after wrestling the dog down to where they get bit on the ear, they seem to “get it”.
The way I’ve dealt with a dog trying to take a shot at “alpha” status is to get them outside, down on all fours, wrestle them onto their back and clamp my hand around their throat, thus holding them in the “submissive” position, and screaming my damnfool head off right in their face for about 5 minutes. Kinda sinks in that “ok, this mofo is serious”.
Done that, aaron. No change yet.
I can get him neutered Monday or Tuesday. Just get him here. Where is your vet for the next ten days ? When you really need him.And neutering isn’t a miracle fix………excuse the bad joke. How old is he. Meaning the dog and not the vet.

vet on vacation. sure I can find someone more local. trainer won’t take him unless he’s fixed. call if you like swmbo.
Assert dominance by grabbing by the throat and pinning. Hold until Pup is calm and submissive.
Og is then obviously alpha male pack leader.
Gnawing on muttley’s ear whilst down is another good way of driving message home.
Ogwife urine, applied by ogwife, is a really good idea.
Make the sweet little puppy understand its place in family food chain.
They don’t understand english, so you gotta talk canine to them. Pinning down and holding until they become calm and submissive is important.
Pissing on them is disgusting, but effective.
Regardless of puppy testicles, you gotta control that behavior.
Watch TV show Dog Whisperer- Ceasar Milan is a genius in reading and applying the correct feedback to the beasties.

pinned dog never calms. I’ve done it for half hour.
brain worm. no fix.
DON’T beat the crap out of him as some idiot has previously advised.
Dogs don’t take kindly to that. Ever. AND, they will remember, to the detriment of your relationship.
We had a large Lab/Akita that would occasionally try to alpha on me. My response was to ignore him, which drove him nuts. Then we’d play, w/me defining the rules for the play & insisting on his adherence to the rules of the game- fetch, catch the squirrel, sit for reward, whatever.
He was ok after that, & we’d wrassle & I’d get a good “bite” on his snout… He knows who’s the daddy, then.
The Bear left us 4 years ago & I’ve been missing him ever since…
Are you going to take him to the Animal Control training? The guy they have there is truly a “dog whisperer.”
DT, ever heard of Hyperbole?
DT I know Chris, and he would not “actually” harm a dog. But I understand what you mean- and I know Chris does too.
