There they are
Not one, but EIGHT deer, wandering through the yard as we speak. I could open this window and nail one. And the town would rather they be killed by cars. Wasting the meat, and the deer’s life. Dirtbags.

I’d pay to see a deer wander through my yard, but it’ll never happen. Too far inside the city.
I’ve got a gunsmith friend in western New York who has his own 300yd range out his back door.. The last time he shot a deer he took the shot from his back door.
Thirty years ago I was driving home from Kokomo around 11PM and damn near clipped one just north of town, in an area that deer probably avoid like the plague today. At the time of course it was just cornfields and highway. I tell people who know the area that story and they look at me like “how on earth did you ever even see a deer at 146th and Meridian?”
Those were the days, bro. Dad and I used to go shooting up around SR32 and Springmill Road. Not only are the railroad tracks we used to walk along gone, but the area is now completely built up and full of yuppies.
*sigh*
I live 75 mi. SW of Wash DC and get a kick out of the folks that spend hundreds of dollars on hunting gear. I can scream, bark, and howl at the deer on our property and they just stare at me. Their comfort zone is 50 to 75 yards on mostly open land. I’ve only got 10 acres, and the area is a little too built-up for me to be comfortable hunting. I think a major-league pitcher could eat well, however.
Mark and I live just a couple of miles from downtown and we see deer all the time.Except for dodging them when they are in the street, I love them.
swmbo
Here in eastern NC they are thick, I drove by about 15 live ones and lost count on the dead ones today. One live one was in an area with a mall and 2 major highway intersections. Dog hunters run them into small towns all the time.
A bow, a garage door remote, and a come-along. ‘Nuff said.
