Bloom County
Is back.
Well, not really. I mean, you can still catch Opus on sundays in some papers, and online. But you can also see the original series here:.
Now, Berkely Breathed is a closet liberal/libertarian. He has no clue about politics, he’s a damned cartoonist. But his strip was funny, and I always enjoyed it. Maybe not as much as Larson, but hey.
And they’re running the series from the beginning, more or less. You can watch Opus evolve, and watch the characters find their voice.
It’s a nostalgic ride. Take it.

I agree that even though Breathed was a Lib, Bloom County was hilarious.
My favorite series of cartoons was when Opus was helping Steve Dallas quit smoking cold turkey. He started by tying Steve to a chair and promising not to let him go ’till he was over it.
The frames where Steve — in his underwear, and still tied to the chair — goes after Opus with an axe, makes me laugh every time.
I always liked Bloom County. I found it to be much more cerebral than Trudeau’s daily serving of mush.

LOOOOOOOVE him!
