wrenching proceeds apace
Taking parts off the truck and getting the customs forms together and driving the “Kia! The Car that you Wear!”
The Kia Rio I’m renting defines shitbox. It’s options are CD player.
Oh, it has AT/PS/PB but I think that’s pretty common.
There’s a little slot in the dashboard that, according to the manual, is a holder for parking stubs. That’s a feature. It also changes lanes automatically. Often, when you least expect it.
Takes me ten minutes with a shoehorn and a couple of warm spoons to get in it. If I have to drive it for more than ten days I’m gonna get a hole saw and cut some arm holes in it. Thank god I’ve gotten down to about a 47, because the car, i’m pretty sure, is a 48.

The missus and I looked at one of those. It took me tewnty minutes to stop laughing.
I’m keeping my ’83 Honda Civic 1500DX. It’s paid for, and it works. EVERY. TIME.
Not laughing at you, laughing WITH you:
Just drove one of those 2200 miles ABQ-PHX-PDX, and I’m a bunch of sizes smaller, and the car STILL did not fit me. The center console had a sharp edge which hit my right shin just below the knee, creating a bad bruise. After PHX, I wore a kneepad turned sideways, which worked for me, but drew some REALLY wierd looks at gas stations.
Car got 39mpg, though, and never missed a beat. It didn’t like 80 mph, but all the cage squirrels survived to the end of the trip.
Try to turn the Rio in on a Chevy Aveo, same quality of flivver, but more comfortable to drive as I’ve heard…
My wife has a 97 Cephia. Our complaint with it is, if you get out of it with the engine running and push the locking button EVEN A LITTLE BIT down as you close the door, you lock yourself out. She did it twice and I did it once. Otherwise, it seems OK. But I’m 5′ 7″ and she’s shorter, so it’s roomy enough for us.
I may need to have you talk to my wife. She was mooning over the Kia Sedona minivan after she drove one for a weekend.
Me, I’m a Dodge Caravan or Chrysler Town and Country guy if I have to drive a minivan. I just did not like anything about that Sedona, starting with the shift lever placement on the dash. It was not a comfortable drive for me.
My Cherokee is about the SMALLEST car I would consider.
Rice rocket on roller skates of any description? Uh-uh. Homey don’ play dat no mo’. I got INTO an SUV because I got tired of the excuses offered by my Corolla.

This is off topic but I noticed that you lamented the demise of Fetlas, as do I. Well I read in the Plymouth Pilot the other day that they are relocating everything to a new (new to them?) store in Knox. I need a 10′ Jon Boat so I am going to check it out.
Yeah, Scoot, when some of the other clusters in my life are over I’ll check out the new store.
More, the car isn’t bad,it’s just small. Nathan, my nephew worked for a Kia dealer, and the sedona has a short overall lifespan and tends to throw off rear wheel assemblies at highway speed.
I had a ’94 S10 Chevy for my first vehicle. Drove it for a year, then sold to my dad and upgraded to an ’85 Chevy Custom Deluxe with 4″ lift, 4WD, 33″ tires. I drove the S10 several times after I sold it, and couldn’t understand how I ever fit. Now, I have a 2005 Silverado Crew Cab. Very comfortable for me at my 6’4″ and football lineman build. Once put 4 guys in the cab of the Silverado, the smallest one being 5’11” and 210, and we drove 5 hours to goose hunt and were all comfortable. Be interesting this January with 4 guys to Florida, including one guy who is 6’10”.
I have never found a car that resembles comfortable. Could be because I always have a headache when I get in, door opening needs to be raised up a foot. I can’t keep taking these blows to the head.
Guess I’ll mark the KIA off my to review list. Knew they were small but “…tends to throw off rear wheel assemblies at highway speed.” Says enough for me.
Where’s the Honda in your time of need? Don’t tell me one of the nefews pilfered it.

Good to know. I’ll remember NOT to follow them on the interstate…
