In a conversation with Mr Alger, we reminisced about the hot licks of Skunk Baxter. And it gave me pause, and I went back and had a “where are they now” moment, looking up old Skunk, and discovered this.

Damn. Amazing, I tellya. makes you want to call him up and say “hey, thanks for not being the fucktard most of the entertainment industry is” but he’s not an easy guy to find.

Skunk appears occasionally on those VH1 programs about the 70’s. Been watching old Dan stuff on youtube among other old videos lately.
My favorite Dan music video is New Frontier, even if it was a Fagen release it sounds no different. Along the way I stumbled onto what appears to be a recent Skunk performance with some current grunge punks.

What amazes me about this story is that our government can actually be receptive to original and unconventional creativity. So much of the “intelligentsia” are so hung up on credentials and appearances that I thought it would be impossible for a guy like Baxter to get into this position.
Last summer he jammed with Tony Snow on the White House lawn.
