Finally
There’s not much to compare with the frustration of hunting day after day and getting nowhere.
There’s also nothing to compare with the excitement of bagging a deer, especially when you haven’t for, in my case, over 25 years.
It felt good. My heart raced for a long timne afterwards. I dropped it fast, too, one shot and down, I hate it when an animal suffers. Unfortunately I punched out both lungs and the heart so I was denied the heart stew. It’s good to be back in the saddle, it resets my perspective on a lot of things.

Announcing this is public? Are you sure you want that many of us showing up for dinner?
You can show for dinner any damned time you like, tanya.
Congratulations! But, why has it been so long? I guess I’m lucky to live in the middle of deer country. Deer hunting is something I wouldn’t be able to live without.
I have had to re-learn how to hunt, Dash. haven’t been afeild in more than 25 years. This is the first year I’ve forced myself to make time to hunt.
Congratulations.
Just remember, “Hunting isn’t abput killing, it’s about hunting” The worst hunting trip my Grandfather ever had was the one when he got his deer within the first hour of Opening day. Something he looked forward to all year was over too quickly.
The best was when he didn’t get a decent shot until the end of the season. It is all about the hunt.
You’re right on there, Dennis. I had a great season.
Congrats Og. Sounds like some good eating thins winter.

Back in the Game
For the first time in a while, Og the Neanderpundit bagged a bambi. Head on over and congratulate him. While your’re there, see if he’ll share his recipie for heart stew and demand to see the pictures. Jason shared his last month…….
This year mine was hard earned too. Last day of the season, got him into the truck just as the sun was going down. Congrats on yours.
