Shot Show: Camo.
THESE people are INSANE.
There was damned near a pavillion full of people selling camo. For everything. “If it’s between October 15th and November 22, northwest of Kansas City, and it has been raining for more than twenty minutes, THIS camo is PERFECT for you!
Trust me, I’m NOT exaggerating. Well, not much, anyway. And I thought the black rifle people were goofy.

I was about eight years old (1961) the first time I ever saw somebody in camo. I asked my Mom what the funny-looking clothes were for. My mother explained that they were military and were meant to make a man more difficult to see.
This did not make sense to me at all.
Two years later I learned that I was red/green colorblind.
Much later I found out that most camouflage patterns don’t work against the colorblind, and that this had been known for a very long time.
Very cool. Do they make camo in all black for YOU to wear, Og ?
swmbo
swmbo,
Actually, they do make a black and gray woodland camo, and I’m certain Og would approve.
Me? I always get a kick out of the Rambo wannabes.
They freak me out a little too, Dick. Kids playing with guns.
I have some camo BDU’s that I found in a pile of stuff someone was going to get rid of. They’re tough, convenient, in great shape, and have good pockets. They’ll pull on over boots as over pants. They’re really handy utility pants.
I try to wear them only when no one is looking.
Do they make BDU’s in black? Being a cheap bastard, though, I’m not sure I could pay money for them.
“Do they make BDU’s in black?”
Yep, black and gray, all day long.
The local Army/Navy store should carry them.
I have never understood the camo mentality. I consider the buffoons who wear it as silly as the twits who run around with their baggy pants below their buttcracks, only victims of a slightly different stupidity.
Is there a blockhead sillier looking than the one wearing the latest (very expensive)proprietary camo pattern stylishly topped by a hunting law mandated blaze orange hat and vest? Not bloody likely.
Last hunting season I was in a restaurant having a snack on the way home at the end of a trip when three idiots dressed that way walked in. The whole joint exploded in laughter. The Three (Camo)Stooges didn’t get that they were the joke. One word comes to mind. MORON
I can see it for the bow hunters I suppose. Those guys have to get close and camo helps out alot with that.
I bought some camo in the latest and greatest pattern about 20 years ago and I paid top dollar for it too. Back then only the hotshots had camo like that and it was kind of a status symbol among hunters of the time. I still have it somewhere amidst my plunder and junk from years past. We were all archery camo whores. Do you remember when arrow shafts with funky camo patterns came out?
Today I wear those ‘shooting shirts’ with the elbow and shoulder patches and Browning logos on them and some rude wit like Gerry called me a ‘cub scout’ at work today. I also carry a leatherman, a cell phone and a flashlight on my Batman utility belt that earns sneers of contempt and occasional beatings from the other children at work.
Perhaps I need some new camo. A pattern that will allow me to escape the notice of the boss (and allow me to loaf in peace) and evade the fashion bullies like Gerry.
