Jiffy lube scam
A friend sent me this clip from a California news show.
IN case the link disapears, the clip is about a local oil change chain charging for repairs they don’t do.
This surprises me… not at all.
I see this kind of work done all the time- and the less you know about cars the more likely you are to be victimized by one of these assholes.
Now, growing up, I knew shops that did this to people. If you had a clue, you could get good service from them, because they knew you would check their work. If you were clueless, you’d get ripped off every time.
I watched people I knew get ripped off over and over again, and they kept going back and trusting these yahoos, despite warnings from me.
Now, all the people I was close to, were knowledgeable about mechanical things. I didn’t have any friends who weren’t, because I figured, if you couldn’t figure out the simplest thing about cars, you were an idiot. I carried this misconception around with me for ages, until I began to get to know those “other kind” of folks.
It was an awakening that people could be good at one thing and not another- as I found my own limitations I began to recognize that the limitations in others were not stupidity but difference.
If, as a member of your chosen profession, you see someone about to be ripped off, you owe it to them to at least warn them. I’m forever telling people to avoid this or that or the other shop or repairman or technician, and I give reccomendations to people who do good work and are fair. Likewise, lawyers, doctors, other professionals have helped me not be taken advantage of.
This is also true of liberalism. At it’s core, liberalism is like the Jiffy lube employee promising you to change your fuel filter, taking your money, and doing nothing. The problem is, these people cannot be warned, because even if you PROVE to them they are being ripped off, they refuse to acknowledge the danger they are in, because they place more value on the feeling they receive than the reality they can observe. What do we do with those people?

Og, don’t worry about “those people”, my friend.
Don’t you see? They’ll have their liberal congrasshole* pass ’em a Federal Program to recompense ’em for the losses that society has foisted upon them!
*”congrasshole!” i think i just coined a great new word!

“What can we do about these people”
Table of Equipment:
1. Marching Band
2. Drill Instructor
3. Drill pad next to quarry.
Process:
1. Teach basics of marching in step, basics of coordinated manual of drill.
2. Before they are ready, take Liberal Platoon to drill pad and begin complex echelon and oblique marching maneuvers, with countermarching by files.
3. Oops!
ROFLMAO!!!!
Heh. I actually have the local LOF place replace the air filter in my truck… because they charge less than NAPA does for a new filter, without my having to install it.
(And since they both use generic crapass filters, I don’t think that makes a huge difference…)
that video is 1yr 10 months old. does this blog have any new stuff or do you guys keep posting the same OLD stuff? btw my email is 717pimp@cox.net so you can send me pictures of my mom sucking goat cock.
I dunno. do you ever pull your head out of your ass long enough to breathe, or do you like the smell in there?
I used to work for Jiffy Lube’s largest Competitor Valvoline Instant Oil Change, and many time i had J team’s customers come to my shop complaining about the service they were supposed to have gotten just 4 doors down. I should note the VIOC has a policy if ANY employee does NOT perform the services listed on the invoice not only is the employee terminated but the manager is suspended and the supervisor on duty at the time of the service is fired also, and the money is to be refunded immediately and the service re-done properly. I could go on for hours about Walmart, Jiffy Lube, Quaker State and others not performing the service they were supposed to, or perfomring it very badly and in some cases actually damaging the customer’s car. I’m quite proud of the record at my store of only 8 complaints in 12 months, and they were all related to a certain employee getting too familiar with female customer’s not with anything to do with our service. The employee was terminated after the 8th complaint, when the mandatory classes and write ups didn’t cure him of his flirting.
A coworker had the local quickie-lube place tell him his transmission needed servicing. They took him into the pit and, sure enough, there was an oily film all over the trans pan. He declined the service on the grounds that the film was clear and smelled suspiciously (exactly, in fact) like baby oil.
I work for jiffylube in Utah and that video was very bad press for us also but to let everyone know who watches it that not all jiffylubes are dishonest, I personally take pride in my work and love my job and my customers and to let everyone know that the owners of the franchise that i work for send undercover cars through his shops and asks for services to be performed and has the district manager check them after the service and make sure they are done and after 40 times of sending in undercover cars not a single one was ripped off.
Yo Mark!! I worked at a Jiffy Lube in Morris COunty N.J. and we had a similiar employee who was a little too touchy feely with the ladies. Female Store Mgr. didn’t seem to mind that he groped her which was bizarre to witness. Other female employee had to tell him NOT to touch her. He’s still there.
